Big Big Big Problem?

Wow. Today was great. I put vinyl on the car yesterday and wash it up good today. Well when I leave the parkin lot and pull around to the other one out front, run in the house for bout 30 min or more....then run to the store, come back 10 min later and what do i see in the parking lot but a HUGE GOLD BOLT! Right where my car was parked before. I DONT KNOW where the hell it is from, but it looks the same as some of the bolts in the engine. So my baby has been sitting in the garage since that happened. Anyone else have this problem? I doubt it. This kinda s*** always happens to me.

...and...? i dont mean to be rude, but :wtf:

you drove the car home fine, ok, nothings wrong.

did you think it could have been there before you got there?
last i knew, bolts dont just fall off.

No s*** they just dont fall off. But if you look at the bolt, it looks like it was only threaded to like the 3rd or 4th thread. And the bolt was not there before because I woulda noticed. THe damn thing is gold and is bout 3-4" long. Trust me, i look for s*** like that in that parkin lots cause of the kids next door.

As far as I know. I talked to a mechanic who loves a few houses down from me that works for Honda. He said that it looks like a bolt for the engine, or the engine carriage. Just cause one bolt falls out doesn't mean that the car is gonna stop working! But what it could mean is that something is relying on one bolt to keep it bolted it, when it NEEDS TWO! THAT IS WHAT I AM SAYING. I am not that freakin stupid!

check the bolt size to see if it is indeed metric or not. that'll give you a pretty good indication

your car should b fine, im pretty sure i know what bolt your talking about.

Is it the bolt that is right in front of the motor, should be one on the left n right side. if it is you'll be fine, i bought my car with that bolt not in it. it came in a black bag sitting in my truck.

I going up to mazda on tuesday for some service n ill ask them what the whole deal with that bolt is.

if u are talkin about right under the engine cover on the right...NO. I am going down there tomorrow morning and telling them to get the ****** thing up on the lift and check it out. Ridiculous that you pay 21,000 for a car and this s*** happens (if it is off the car)

Actually, I'd put it up on jackstands and at least take a peak all around the engine bay...I was driving my Civic a while back and heard a metallic clank underneath my car...I stopped, got out, and took a quick walk back up the road. I found my alternator adjustment bolt lying there in the middle of the street. It wouldn't hurt to look, and it might help clear your head of worries:)

Sorry guys. I don't mean to sound liek a freaking asshole. Just been a bad day ya know. I mean, just alot of crap going on. Car is pissing me off today, hate my job, x-gf is starting s*** since I am dating someone now...you know that bulls***. Sorry fellas!

I really think it is the one that comes with the jack kit. Were you in your trunk diggin around for anything? I mean sure, get it checked out, put you might want to look and see if you have the extra bolt in your trunk like the rest of us. Just a thought.

I feel your pain on this matter. The bolts that hold on my manifold cover(heat shield infront of engine) have come unscrewed twice. Freaked me out the first time and now I just have to tighten them from time to time. I showed them to the service manager and they want me to "monitor the problem" to see if it continues, ehh it sucks.

So you found a bolt? Has It been sheared or dose it look like it worked its way loose? Was it clean like new? You never know it could have been loose in the car (engine bay, frame) the whole time you have had the vehicle and just fell out. When you make things on an asembly line extra components are bound to slip by. But Get it checked out.... Dont wory I am shure thay will take care of you, You could even call the mazda roadside assistance and have it towed in on mazdas dime if you wish...

Well fellas, I found out what the bolt was from. The exact words on the paperwork they gave me are...

INSPECT SUSPENSION FOUND BOLT MISSING FROM BELL HOUSING R&R AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY TO REINSTALL BOLT THE CUSTOMER FOUND UNDERNEATH CAR RETORQ UED ALL OTHER BOLTS

Well, I guess I was right. It WAS from the car. At least it wasnt anything too aweful serious.

Wow, sounds like you made a lucky find. It always helps to have all the bolts securing the Tranny to the Engine :D

im not reading this whole thread cuz im lazy but.....

sounds like a bold from the heat shield that says mazdaspeed on it

on of mine fell out at some point, vibrated out, and when I asked over at protegeclub about it this happens frequently even on regular proteges

i think the bolt undoing itself was the cars way of telling him to get that ****** vinyl off his car. just a thought though
