best turbo kit

Hint of Jalapeno Tostitos :)

but on the topic --- no matter what kit you get --- make sure you tune it and if you are not doing it yourself -- trust the ones you let do it get it done properly :)
"I'll have some ja Lapeno Chips"
"No Ricky, they are pronounce Halapeno"
"I dunno what the **** those are, but I'll stick with my Ja Lapeno chips thanks"

Hehehehehe, sorry for the reference to a great Canadian Series(Trailer Park Boys)...it had to be done..but back on topic, I think the choice of a turbo kit depends on your needs, and what price your willing to pay, and if you'll want to further upgrade the kit...also, as MP5jeff said, make sure you know someone who can tune the kit properly..especially if you cant'...get it done right, don't **** up, or else the kit will get ******, and then you'll be shitting alll over whoever you got the kit from...and then all sorts a s*** will fly

Anyway, here is some more info about our kit and performance for Scottpro who is the one really interested in the kit.

THIS IS THE RUN WE MADE IN CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY IN JULY AT 104 DEGREE WEATHER.

And some pics of the kit in Protege and none protege with FS 2.0

The attachments are pics of brand new cars from Mazda dealers in South America sent to us for installation. If Mazda trust us who wouldn't. Look how professional the install is that they look like factory and this is why we had the cross over piping before; to use the stock air box.

This thread looks just like all those FMIC threads that were popping up in the MSP section about a month ago. I got flamed for praising both sides, since some people like to take praise for one product as automatically bashing another. Point is, everything has its virtues, unless you're buying from iON, and in that case, I can't help you there.

I wish my car were turbo'd by HiBoost than whoever Mazda USA decided to hire to do the MSPs. Whoever they are, they sure did a piss poor job. But either way, I still love this car, much the same way a mother loves her autistic children.

i have delt with juan many times...he is a very good guy! ive seen, driven, ect his products. all anyone really needs to do is look at there funds... and see what kit offers the most for your money. hiboost has been around for over 2 years while other turbo kits have came and gone since then.

i like all the new stuff MAM offers but i still fill his kits are STILL really new to the protege market. also the reason you see so many threads about MAM this.... and MAM that... are because of all the BUZZZZZ of NEW product. that doesnt mean something is the best! also i wanted to ask this queston.... how many people have a MAM kit up and running? and for how many miles? ect???? not asking to knock the product... just for my own personal info.
dont get this post wrong.... i think almost every vendor on this site has a great product....

BOOOO!!!! FLAME!!!!! FASCIST!!!!!!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!

I don't really mean it, but thats the usual response I get when I say anything that sounds remotely close to me bashing a product. I whole-heartedly agree though with what you say.

i have been running the MAM kit for about a thousand miles with no problems except a few i caused on my own, and of course nicks wonderful mpi

i will say this though.... i DO fully agree with juan saying RIGHT NOW his kit is the best bang for you buck on the market. it's all in WHAT your plains/goals are for you car?

Especially since he throws in a Haltech. I want a haltech, I wish Mazda threw one in with my MSP.

Currently I know of 22 of my customers that have our Sleeper kit up and running. Most do not post on the internet as they are older gentalmen and don't much care for message boards.Their are 7 people that have not installed(or kept me up to date) there kits that I'm aware of.
Our Sleeper kit is roughly 2 years old now. However it's only been on the market for 9-10 months.Reason for this is due to testing and design changes.
Currently to date the highest milage Sleeper kit is 45,700.
Our Sleeper kit has been proven to last and perform very well. The kit uses a GT28RS and is good for roughly 350-375HP.
Our kit retails for $4395 and comes with:
GT28RS ball bearing turbo.Polished compressor cover,Jethot(ceramic) coated hotside
Stainless manifold,Jethot(ceramic) coated
Tial 38mm External Wastegate
Large Front Mount intercooler.3.5" thick, bar/plate with polished cast end tanks.
Stainless downpipe,Jethot(ceramic) coated
HKS SS Blow off valve
Braided feed and -10 drain lines
T-bolt clamps
Silicone couplings
Powdercoated cold parts
Overflow bottle relocation bracket
heat shield/blanket
MPI Tuner(timing/fuel)

Reason for being the highest priced Protege kit is in the components itself. We run an external wastegate,Stainless steel manifold,Stainless Steel downpipe, large Front Mount intercooler,HKS SSQV,powdercoated cold parts,Jethot coated hot parts and you have control of timing and fuel.
If you were to add all of this to the Hiboost $3600 price tag you will be in the $4700 price range or better. The Hiboost setup is a nice piece and has it's place. You need to decide if you are better off with all these pieces or not.Sometimes it's to rich for some peoples blood and I understand that.I would recommend doing a search on what best suits your needs.
Starting in Dec there is going to be some changes in the Sleeper kit to help bring the cost down.
We also offer a starter kit.The starter kit is not much different than the Complete kit.The start kit gives you a great bang for the buck and gives the choice to decide on engine management or let you save up for a standalone system.
Our starter kit consists of the following:Retail $3595
GT28RS ball bearing turbo.Polished compressor cover,Jethot(ceramic) coated hotside
Stainless manifold,Jethot(ceramic) coated
Tial 38mm External Wastegate
Large Front Mount intercooler.3.5" thick, bar/plate with polished cast end tanks.
Stainless Steel downpipe,Jethot(ceramic) coated
Bosch Blow off valve
Braided feed and -10 drain lines
T-bolt clamps
Silicone couplings
Powdercoated cold parts
Overflow bottle relocation bracket
heat shield/blanket

The difference between the 2 are the blow off valves and engine management.Other than that you have the great looks and loads of power as the complete kit.

Good Luck with your choice.

Thank Callaway Motorsports..a tuning company of Fords....flame those stupid fucktards..I'm sure all of us here can agree to mutually agree Callaway ****** up with these cars...well..not ****** up, but simply did not try very hard at all..and Mazda really didn't go out of their way either, with bad fuel maps, and weak engines that pop in stock form....damn it...sure, it's an ok out of the box car...but if mazda put the time into it that chrysler did, we'd have a damn good car...but then, they didn't put time into it cause it was an end of model kill the rest of the frames move...the new Mazdaspeed models will be getting better, as they are putting a bit more time and effort into them...but still not much, as they are one time things...oh well..they are good cars to start with though...and I am impressed with the MS6..looks good...the MSM was kinda...a good car for Miata people..not for me though...oh well..**** CALLAWAY...**** THE STOCK TURBO....**** THE CRAPPY WEAK RODS...**** THE bad FUEL MAPS...**** A STOCK MSP...theres a true flame...and here comes mine for saying this..but I think deep down inside..we all know this

*threadjack* I was talking to a guy at a garrett booth at one show that worked with callaway during the mazdaspeed protege project. He said they could've done so much more but mazda really limited them.

Yeah, they had to keep costs down..which is acceptable..but still.I'd be happy paying 1000more for the car, to have it working properly

Hmmm. This thread is interesting... I will refrain from saying anything but one statement: I have owned both kits, the Hiboost with E6X and the MAM Thumper. If anyone wants to PM me they can.

Oh, and enjoy my sig. I might keep it for a few more days.

Man, if I had a weekend to kill and $5k to spend, I know what I'd be doing.

I'm kind of glad that they were able to keep the costs down, because I was barely able to afford the car as it is, especially after I gave them a low ball price that they amazingly accepted.

I'm sure it would not have been so hard to upgrade the internals and develop a better fuel map for every single MSP. I'm sure they could have at least taken the time to do that.
