After some reading, it looks like alot of people are saying the mazda moly oil is good? What would you recommend? I haven't done my first oil change yet. I wanted to make the right oil decision now and stick with the same products throughout the life of the vehicle. Right now I'm thinking possibly mazda moly (anyone have a part number?), OEM mazda filter, OEM crush washer. Is there something else I should use instead? Also, I plan on changing oil/filter/washer every 5k. Any benefit to getting my first oil change done early ... say at 1500 miles, then 5k, 10k, 15k, etc? Thanks! (popcorn)

ANY API-SN oil in the proper grade at 5k intervals is fine.

Get a synthetic media filter, they flow and filter better (amsoil, mobil1, K&N).

I believe that there is no advantage to changing oil extra early and may be even detrimental. . Manufactures use assembly lubes and possibly even oil additives to assure a proper break-in and burnishing of new parts. I also believe that the Mazda moly oil is an excellent and would be very difficult to match for the price. I'm also a believer in using the Company oil filters, at least for the first 10-15,000 miles in case of engine issues that might be oil related. Just my thoughts. Ed

see my post on this forum: I just did a UOA on my CX5 with about 6,500 miles on the oil and the results are fantastic. Could have kept the oil in there for almost 8500 miles

we talked about this when the 2014 started to come out...Mazda spent MILLIONS on research for their oil..use the Mazda oil..cheeper and better

Here is the oil:

Cost no object - Mazda Moly

Better buy (and highly regarded) with many of same additives - Toyota 0W20 SN Synthetic Oil

Possible Over the counter alternative - Mobil 1 with 1/2 bottle Liqui Moly Mos2 available at Napa and online.

I am going to wait 3K for first oil change and then go +7K (10K), then every 10K between changes with Mazda Moly or Toyota

I bought some moly from that website posed under the picture today. My stealership only uses Castrol oil I want to try the oem oil. I am debating if I want to change the oil myself or not. edit I ordered an drain valve from fumoto too http://www.qwikvalve.com/fumoto-f106s-valve.html
