Best exhaust???

I've looked at alot of threads but I'm still not sure about which one to go for my P5 (exhaust system):
-Mazdaspeed exhaust
-Magnaflow exhaust
-Racing beat exhaust
Anyone has any tips or had any good/bad experiences with any of these?

I like the Corksport "power series" exhaust. Good power gains and easy to install. One problem, it is alittle loud when traveling at speed. No cats.

A cat-back exhaust doesn't have any cats. Hence the name "cat-back". The Racing Beat does have some resonators (or pre-mufflers) which help to keep the sound down. The Racing Beat is probably the leading favorite followed by the Magnaflow.

The reason I said "no cats" is because it is a header back cat-less system. There are absolutely no cats on my vehicle.
To answer the next thread, yes, it will pass inspection. No engine light and my last scan two weeks ago showed no codes.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's all preferance.

Some like the noise one makes over the other. Others like the tips on the other over the other. As to a "BEST" exhaust, they're all about the same. One doesn't have a significant performance increase over the other.

Me personally, running a magnaflow catback. Reason- crazy good deal on it. Otherwise, I was looking at the racingbeat. Peronally, I like the magnaflow. No drone, not real loud. But, we'll see what happens after I sell my bike and put on an OBX header and new midpipe.

To me, that header made a big diff. Check e-Gay for that header.

Does anyone think that magnaflow, corksport or racing beat has more power gains and a better sound than just a mazdaspeed exhaust?? Mazdaspeed is only around 200$ instead of around 400-450$ for the others, so would getting a magnaflow/corksport/racing beat be worth it??

NA with OBX, magnaflow hi flo catted w/flex fitting 2.25" midpipe, 2.25 t304 ss mandrel bent pipe w/ resonator to magnaflow street series 5x8 oval muffler. No crazy headache drone on hwy, nice sonic lo bass that sets off all car alarms in parking garages. Probably ended up spending 300-350 putting it all together. Love it, listen to the exhaust note driving around as much as the stereo.

just to let people know, different states have different smog laws. in CA they sniff test, so its impossible to pass a car w/o cats.

I have only seen the Mazdaspeed exhaust in "axel back" only. Since I'm not sure if they make a full length, I will tread lightly. If this is the case, then you spend the $200 for the Mazdaspeed system, then if you have a 2.25" system cutom made at an exhaust shop that would be approx. $150. If you use the stock pipping then I will gaurantee that all exhausts will out perform it.

Again, I am not trying to stick up for my exhaust, after all when I bought mine it was $350. If Mazdaspeed makes a full length or cat back exhaust then you are right if not, then yes I believe they do.

Colorado uses a road side "drive by" emissions test where they scan the air behind your car with a laser. I'm going to see if my car will pass that test with the OBX header and a high flow cat. I think it will.

I do to. Most four cylinders will. You could probably do it catless.

A cat-back exhaust alone isn't going to give you diddly crap for gains, so it's all about the sound you want.....

IMO...Get a used Mazdaspeed axle-back from a real MSP, not the ebay one, it drones like hell...Just get one from a forum member...shorten it for the P5, got mine for $60.00...and get a header instead, which ran me about $150 used...

yes, the mazdaspeed is just an axelback, if you get a full cat back you will free up more pwr due to the more freely flowing exhaust, now if you were to get a custome cat back to the mazdaspeed axelback, i believe you would be the first one with that... it could be fun to do

ive had the mazdaspeed exhaust, it was pretty nice, i loved the look of it more than anything! when i got the obx header it made a very loud buzz in the cabin at highway speeds more often referred to as "drone" around the forums.

now i have a obx header, with corksport power series header back exhaust, and only 1 hi-flow cat that i had someone weld in(it comes cat free). So if you have the header combined with this exhaust you are basically running straight pipes. THIS SETUP IS AS LOUD AS AN ANGRY BANSHEE!!! When i got the hi-flow cat welded in it got alil quiter then i added the silencer...STILL LOUD AS A BANSHEE, just not so angry of one. HOWEVER it sounds soooo bad ass, really it does the tone is awesome, and its liveable around town spends etc, but anything above 45+ plan on cranking up that stereo. As for performance it is probably one of the best due to the fact that it is a header back, its just a little to loud for my taste...
thats my 2 cents:)

EXACTLY!!!

Thx alot for the responds. I might be going then for a header and maybe magnaflow or corksport but I don't want something too loud that will bring me tons and tons of tickets. Btw I read on magnaflow.com that their exhaust system isn't exceeding the limit for sound.
And could anyone tell me around how much $$ would installing a header cost?

New OBX header is around $250.00...Install is a breeze...about 45 minutes if everything goes smooooth...
