Battlefield 2

It will probably run smoother when you play it online. I used to play BF42 with 64 bots and was pissed at how slowly it ran. Then I played it online and it was tons faster.

It's ok. I played BF1942 a lot but never cared for DC much.
I was moving in to my Join Ops phase then :)
I have 5 game worthy boxes two A64's one with two 6600GT's clocked to 570/1200 and other has a 9800Pro at 422/732. Both have a gig of RAM and both are overclocked. One is a DFI SLI board running 300x'9 with 3x HTT for a 2.7GHz 3000+ Venice and the other is an old 2800+ Newcastle running 2.4GHz. They both perform fairly well.
The other two are ok one is a 2.4c at 3.3GHz with a 9800Pro set to 411/732 and the 4th is a mobile 2500+ XP running 2.4GHz with a 9800Pro set to 400/720. All machines have a gig of varing speed RAM from 3200-3700 Corsair.
Then there is the 3.6GHz Prescott core laptop. It has a 17'' widescreen, a full 10key and a PCIe X700 overclocked to 450/650. 1 gig of DDR2 blah blah.

so here's a little prob i ran into.
i tried to play multiplayer... at first Punkbuster would boot me after about 1 minute due to no packet flow
so i went into my linux box and forwarded port 16567 to my box, figuring that might have been the prob, but now i can't connect to any servers at all... any help?

yeah, i can't connect to any servers at all and it's pissing me off b/c there's no story mode to keep me occupied while I figure it out......subbing to this one.

honestly, in my opinion, you cant go wrong with any of the battlefield games. i was not super impressed for battlefield vietnam though.

wasn't battlefield vietnam just a skin over 1942? i never played it, never looked that good to me, and my vidcard sucked back then

Yup, I think there were no improvements except maybe a change of scenery.

This thread needs a "revive."

You can get check your stats at www.bf2s.com. Maybe even post up your stats!

question...

i dled the game to check it out before i buy...and i must say i love it, except it seems a bit frantic with all the vehicles...is it just a stupid mess of people running over each other and complete chaos onilne or is it cooperative and require skill etc>?

i dont want to buy it only to be frustrated at how juvenille the people can be killing each other (tking) and zero skill just people hopping in tanks etc being the main focus, and not the ability to shoot or move as an individual (ie - ghost recon, ravenshield, etc).

Hey Matthew, just to give you a heads up, Fry's Electronics has this game on sale ALWAYS for 35 bucks.

Anyway, it really will depend on the server you play on. You can read the description of servers. Some are heavily admined so that keeps the idiots away. Yes, there are those idiot servers where all that matters is carnage and armor hogging and spawn camping...and yeah it gets really annoying, but despite all that with good teamwork you can overcome all of that.

Let me give you the story of a similar situation last night. So I was playing with my brother and his friends at Strike at Karkand, and we're playing MEC. We are defending against USMC and they are spawn camping with vehicles and the whole team is getting pissed. Anyway, so we decide to form an anti-squad. We would lay claymores everywhere on the front line so whenever they came rolling up in some armor, kaboom! Then we'd switch to anti-tank special ops to make sure the armor goes down. Plus if you have good medics they can keep you alive, and you won't be accounted for that death until you finally get put away.

So just get it!

Well you can always play in unranked servers until you get ready. Playing against bots doesn't promote teamwork very well.

EA needs to die. I can't believe their ******* capitalist idea which not allowing other people to host a ranked server. My buddies own a hosting company (www.gamerserverhq.com) and tried to email EA about hosting a ranked server, but they don't reply at all. As of result, you can only rent server from EA.. what a bunch of bitches..

Anyway, now that I'm done with my rant. I must say the game it's fun (once you're IN the game). I'v ebeen on many servers that people worked together as a team and it turns out to be really fun. And, because of that... I'm currently a Private First Class and almost to Lance Corporal

any bots in multiplayer?

I have one copy of the game. Can anyone tell me if there are bots in multiplayer? I have played my son in the demo multiplayer on the home lan but it's just the two of us on the map. If I get another full version can we add 30 bots so it adds some spice?

He beats me usually. Although our systems have the same performance, my old screen is to dark to see into shadows so I have to spray bullets in the direction of muzzle flashes.

Sadly to say that they have eliminated the use of bots when you do the multiplayer LAN game. But Fry's Electronics has it for 35 dollars and I'd have to say it's well worth the money!

BTW, here's me: http://www.bf2s.com/player/Flong/

I play a sick medic...

That's called smart buisness. I know a few people that work for them, they ARE money vampires, but you can't tell me that's not smart.

**** in EA for not allowing the use of unlocked weapons on a LAN.
You could unlock them locally until the patch came out then nadda.
Hopefully we can figure out what they did and unlock them locally again.

This game runs great for me now that I have 2 gigs of overclocked PC3200.
With one gig of ram it would hesitate a bit at the very begining of a level for the first 1-30 secs after that it was great. This was on high detail, high sound etc.
Now it is butter smooth...A good game but the hardware requirmements for higher res, higher detail play are steep and the lack of unlocked weapons on a local server are two things that will turn some people away.
