Bastian's P5 on a college budget

So my delivery job finally gave me a sign after I've been working there for a year. I didn't like the idea at first, but I warmed up to it when everyone started letting me go at intersections and people ran out of their houses to meet me because they knew I was the pizza guy. That and it lights up at night just brightly enough to help read house numbers next to my car. It looks so goofy though because I have to put it in front of my roof racks

Also the car next to me is another one of the drivers, it's an 02 protege. Cliche pizza delivery car, missing grill, altezza tails, dents and rust everywhere, 1 hubcap, and missing half the exhaust system.

And my P5 has about 20,000 more miles than his Protege... just goes to show that mileage on cars means nothing, it's all about how well it was taken care of.

Picked up my new sub today. I decided against doing a fiberglass stealth box, mainly due to working seven days a week and having no time. Memphis PR12, I'd never heard of it before but I heard it at the local car audio shop and it sounded very nice. The sub was $120 and the box was $50. It definitely suits my car better than the 12x2
some crappy cell pics, lol at bored girlfriend in background

sweet setup @ the sub

but i heard installing the amp on the sub directly causes the amp to absorb the shocks of the car (bumps) and go bad over time..
maybe relocate it behind the rear passenger seats with a plate, no?

Zhy, mounting the amp to the box has nothing to do with the vibrations of the car. Installing the amp directly to the box directly absorbs the vibrations from the sub. Over time this will cause the sub to go bad if the sub vibrates bad enough. However, the sub looks like it is in a closed box so vibrations will be less than those of a ported box. It's probably not going to be a big deal overall

Yeah thing is I don't have habit of really cranking the sub that often, I'm typically a pretty moderate level listener. In the near future I'm going to relocate my ground and have the box on the 40 split side so I can fold down the 60 side and have room. The amp may or may not get mounted on to the plastic trim on the inside of the hatch but we'll see. I had the same setup (amp on top of sub box) with my JL 12x2's for about 8 months and had no problems

Her's is faster ;)

I honestly wouldn't doubt it (pissed) hahaha

Oh thanks alot, I was scratching my head to see where I was going to put mine when I get a sub (quite soon)
I had a 10'' sub closed box setup in my mind, so that clears it all! thanks

I'm mounting an amp straight to my 10 in a closed box. I wouldn't recommend mounting to that interior plastic. It isn't very strong.

Yeah that was something I was just contemplating, I honestly haven't even looked at it yet hahaha. I'll definitely take that in to consideration.

I want to mount mine under the driver seat. Got to make sure it doesn't interfere with the A/C channel though

Just attach it to the back seat. Mind the length of the screws and you're fine. You can tuck the wires under the carpet to help keep it clean looking.

Hey, just wanted to say that your car looks great! I'm a novice when it comes to cars but definitely trying some of the things you've done.

Finally got around to putting my subwoofer amp underneath the driver seat and hid the wires all nice.

dug up this photoshop from a while ago... debating going with this style for the winter with some mudflaps too. I'd probably do red plastidip with the gloss over so I can go back to hubcaps if it looks bad... thoughts?

So today I was just driving down the my street when some lady in her Chevy Impala decided that she wanted to turn left on to the road and occupy the space that my rear driver's side wheel was occupying. She demolished my hubcap and put a nice scuff on the side of the rear bumper...

And of course she gets out and starts yelling about "how fast do you think you were going back there??" and even though I was going at, if not below, the speed limit while she was clearly at fault. Just cause I'm some kid in a blue car. Luckily her husband heard the crunch and the horn and came running down and then she calmed down... exchanged info but didn't report to police seeing as I have an entire box of these hubcaps in my garage. Only problem is a little piece of plastic from the hubcap got lodged in between the tire and the wheel right inside the seam, and I think the tire will have to get dismounted and put back on to get it off. Of course every tire shop in town is closed on Sundays and I have to deliver tonight so looks like I'm taking the Jeep....

On the bright side, it could've been worse... And if i was in a bad enough mood, I'd have retorted with "obviously not fast enough" but that wouldn't have gone very well. Nice that those weren't a nicer set of aftermarkets i guess...

^ Yeah exactly... car got back from the shop today, the just dismounted and remounted and balanced the tire, $30. Also, turned out the scuff on the rear bumper was just the black paint from her car sitting on my paint and it wiped right off, so looks like nothing ever happened! (2thumbs) now just debating whether to chase the person down for the $30...

I'm lucky I had steelies in this situation cause alloys would have had the f*ck bent out of them, not to mention the scratches. I just tossed another hubcap from my stash on :) hahaha
