Bad smell when moonroof is open

Hello everyone, i have a protege5 2002 and I have a problem with bad smell when I open my moonroof. The problem recently appeared. The smell is like when you have an old A/C that has bacteria in the system (like moisture odor). I can't wash inside the moonroof compartment. Can anyone help me please.

I know I am bothered by the dust build up I am getting between my moonroof glass, and the plastic cover.

Mabye with the moonroof tilted up there is someway to clean in there?

I am thinking about putting a towel over the vent holes in the cover, then pouring water mixed with a little cleaner into the plastic cover.
But I want to make sure there isn't any other place for the water to go.

-So bump...anyone know how to clean this area?
