Backfiring

I installed catback and my car was backfiring a little too. recently I added highflow cat and it got real loud but I don't mind. so far I run 87 octane gas. on my next fill up I'll try 94 and see if there are any changes. I guess the backfiring is normal then

The higher octane will probably just provide more backfiring. Besides, you don't need higher octane gas unless you're runinng higher compression, or an ecu that uses advanced timing (i.e. the MP3 ecu).
 
Im running almost the exact same setup as the orignal poster except with and AWR header, i get the backfiring during downshifts as well.. Im almost positive it normal with no cats.
 
Yeah I always run 93 octane I doubt that I will try putting anything higher in there. How offen are you suppost to change your timing belt? I thought it was like every 60k miles.

110,000 miles IIRC

Many people go longer (much longer) than that tho.
 
yep, i just passed 110,000 and did mine about 2 weeks ago. the guy that helped me said it really wasnt in bad shape.
