AWR header & gas mileage

for those of you with the AWR header, how is your gas mileage? i want a little performance boost but cant afford to compromise gas mileage. any input is greatly appreciated

I guess I'll field this question since nobody else will. For the most part any aftermarket part will not reduce your fuel economy. Most parts are designed so that it free's parasitic loss inherent in the design of the car. In this case the header removes the catalytic converter which causes backpressure in the exhaust system and slows and cools of the exhaust, both bad things. It also more efficiently routes the gas such that each gas pulse(two per revolution) enters the collector one at a time, making it easier to enter the main pipe and also creates a swirling effect in the system which scavenges exhaust out of the combustion chamber. So no it won't effect gas mileage in a negative way, only positively. Usually things that require the addition of fuel wil be the only aftermarket parts that will increase fuel consumption

thanks for the info

cool, thanks for the info. the reason i ask is because i drive back and forth from Tampa and Miami all the time becasue of school and gas is expensive as it is. if what you say is true i will definately look into getting this header. all i need now is $500:( . but out of curiosity if anybody with the AWR header reads this how much better is your mileage?

I have a P5 with the AWR header. Been on for about two months. I was averaging around 30mpg before, and now its closer to 35. At the rate I drive, Orlando to the Cape, it should pay for itself by the end of the year.
