Average trade in value for msp?

Msp
I am thinking of trading my car in to a dealership. I have had it on autotrader for about two months now and have gotten no hits from it. I was debating just trading it in and getting something cheap, probably an older 1st gen miata. I like them anyways, so I would not mind taking a hit for one, but how much have you, or other people you know of been offered for your msp? Mine has 20k mi, and is in really good condition. Anybody traded in their car recently?

Thanks for the help.

Neal

your gonna trade in for an older car? Will they even do that with your car being worth more.

I bet you will probably get offered like 12k at the most.

i was offered 12k for mine with 16k on it, but i was looking into trading for an 05 legacy gt, not a cheaper car, so they'll probably offer you less

I am expecting around 12k. I am hoping carmax will get a miata in before summer. I just hate how the value of these cars is going down the shitter for some reason...

Two months and nothing dam. I was thinking aboutt putting my car on autotrader also. I have an ad for sale on this forum for about 6 months now and no takers. So many MSP for sale for cheap like less then 14k. The resale value is horrible,no demend for this car at all. I dont think u get more than 12k in trade in maybe more but they make it up on the other end. Try ebay Ive seen a few sell for more than 13k maybe u get lucky.

(mswerd)it has to be the clunk thats making these cars depreciate so much (lol2)

I know the dealership I bought mine from paid $12k for it when they got it.
It's in really nice shape, and only had about 19k miles on it.

$12k sounds about right frim a dealer.
Do you think any other '03 $20k car would get much more for a dealer trade in??
The dealer just screws youi so bad

'03 WRX's still get in the high teens. They actually have a garaunteed buy back of about $18k (as long as it's got resonable mileage and has not been overly modded) if you buy another subie.

but a wrx was a few thousand more to begin with, around 23-24k iirc. a lot of people on here got their msp's for 18k or less, i know i paid 18k before ttl after all of the rebates and all that stuff, and i think some dealers were trying to get rid of them new for like 16k at the end, so that's obviously going to kill their resale. in a few years though i'd imagine you'd probably get close to what you're going to see now for prices, i don't see it going down a whole lot more real soon

ah man that sux. Before giving it to a dealer, make me an offer i can't refuse :)

man, i wish i weren't upside down on my corolla right now.... hmmmm something to think about....

i love that yellow msp, btw. maybe you can give me a ride the next time i'm in houston? i was there for spring break all last week but now back in austin.

average black book for the southeast region on a msp is 10,500...which is what dealers go by. they can show you more, but the bottom line either way will be the same.

 wtf? Are these dealers (drunk)??? Who makes these books???(screwy)

i believe it's in the kelly black book, plus they get their information from a few sources usually, kelly, nada, and sometimes edmunds but edmunds is usually high

dealers go by the black book, banks go by nada...no one uses kelly.

and the books are produced by region based on what the cars are selling for at major auctions.

I'm really glad someone posted this topic because i went thru this s*** this week. I started going to college and i wanted to trade my msp03.5 in for a base model mazda 3. They only offered me $9 for it. only has 40k miles on it. Edmunds listed it as $15K.. i was pissed... i tried other dealerships who offered less money.....

did you take your mods off? i'd imagine you'd get closer to what others are being offered if you did. it's much harder to sell a car with mods on it so a dealership will give you less. also trading for a cheaper car isn't going to help things, but if they offer you a low value for your car that means that you can play more with the price of the car. either way though you're gonna end up negative on the deal

Whats up guys. Havent made a huge thread about it yet, but I traded my msp this week. Traded her for an 04 Ti MSM. I got 12,5k for my trade but on the other hand I paid 18k OUT THE DOOR for the MSM brand new =). Oh and I made them throw in a GAP policy ($500) on top of that. =)
