Aux in button not working?

I finally got an 1/8" to 1/8" chord for my mp3 player so that I can hook it up to the aux. in on my ms3, but when I got to the parking lot with my new toy I found that I couldn't get stereo to switch to the aux. input. The media button isn't doing anything.

I checked through the manual and it didn't really have anything to say other than hit the button and it should be playing.

Is there something I need to do to activate this input? Anyone else had this problem?(sad1)

I have sirius. Time to fight with my dealership again
