AutoX!

:
1999 Mazda Protege "Sport20" FS-ZE swap
My very first AutoX was today. AWESOME!!! I think I have found a new hobby. I didn't score to well - my fastest time was 78.XXX seconds, while the average was the low 70s and 60s. Oh well. Not bad for my first time. Oh yeah, I was the only one is STS class, so technically I won something. Woohoo!

Here were some odd cars:

This Buick Regal was a RENTAL. This guy rents a different car every month just for AutoXing. He drove it like a bat out of hell...all I could say was DAMN.

Your typical riced civic. The guys driving were playing their bling bling music while driving the course. They popped the hood earlier that morning, and it looked like there were no modifications at all. LMAO

This Prizm was driven by a group of teenagers. They drove it pretty well IMO...

I'd love to cross but I don't have the $$ to constantly replace brake pads and other wear and tear items

Yeah, it's pretty brutal on your tires. This was my first time doing this and I was surprised at how much the pavement scrubbed off rubber. The rough concrete didn't seem to help too much. If I keep doing this I'm definitely going to get a set of steelies w/ some nice tires.

i got myself a new set of steelies for $180USD and a set of 205/50/15 Falken Azenis for $300. you can get a set of 14's from a junkyard for cheaper, but i wanted a 205 wide tire, and i'f i'm gonna spend money, i'm gonna get what i want. a set of 14" Azenis is only $200 btw

I'm thinking about ordering the 215/45/16 for my rotas (seen on the car above).

I ran a TON of events (about 18) last year, and the only wear item I have so far is tires. I bought Rs though, so my street tires don't see the track anymore. Brake pads really don't take too much of a beating once you get smooth. I will be changing mine, but only to get the new rotors cryo'd and have higher friction pads so I can stop quicker. :)

The rear does the LEAST amount of braking. The front is what you should be worried about. As for the brands, I have heard to use Hawk HPS, Carbotech, or Porterfield R4S.
Hope that helps

Actauly I was wondering if you have swapped them since no one seems to list a pad for the rear of the newer proteges.

I know the rears do the least but for some reason my fronts are fine and the rears are gone!
