See, stock cars do not need tuning...but once you start messing with what experienced engineers have skillfully designed, tuning is required to get the car to work properly, and even after tuning, it will never run as smooth and clean as it would if it were stock.
I trust that MAZDA makes a decent car and if they could have added more HP w/o sacrificing ride comfort, reliability, and gas milage...they would have.

why are you only using it in 2nd? At the 1/4 mile..I will use it in 2nd & 3rd...

I don't get nitrous...especially on a car like the Protege. Its a commuter car, a compact car, not a sports car.
Nitrous is only good at the track, specifically the drag strip (unless your an idiot street racer) and (IMO) the Protege has no place at the track. Why spend $17K on a Protege when you could get something that would respond much better to mods and nitrous.
High-Tek Low-Tek whatever. You don't buy a Minivan to tow a horse trailer and you don't buy a Protege to drag race.

I am one of the 5% who just loves their car how it is and enjoys talking to the other 5% who also love their car as is. Last I checked this wasn't just the Protege Tuner's Forum.
If all you wanted to do was make a slow car fast, perhaps you should have bought a used geo metro. coulda saved plenty of cash for CAIs exhaust tips and nitrous.
And as I have mentioned before, the WRX is a far better candidate for racing and driving fast. By the time you finish approaching 200hp you could have owned a car that would do 227 stock and have AWD to put it on the road. But its your money, spend it how you like.
Making slow cars fast just doesn't seem like as much fun as making fast cars faster I guess.
