Attention All P5'ers!

hey wshade, you think bell could replace the T3 with a T3/Te04? I've been talking with ITS (innovative turbo systems) about a custom t3/te04 setup..but if they could figure it out somehow...that would be pretty good...
maybe it could be a stage2 upgrade....
it is the ultimate street turbo after all....

Corky and I discussed this. The T3/T4 is really too big for the P5 under normal street conditions. The T3 has greater flexibility and adjustability for the street. You can increase the blade size and make it blow as much as you want, actually more than the P5 can handle safely. Going T3/T4 would accentuate the turbo lag too much for the street. If you want a race car the T3/T4 would be an excellent option since you are wide open the majority of the time. As a matter of fact he is building an off road down pipe as we speak for the race application.

Auto-X and P5 mods

Hey man,

I'd love to auto-cross my P5, but Jessica is way to new & pretty for that now. Instead I have an 86 VW Scirocco 8V (Stephie) that does the dirty work of auto-Xing. I might get the short shift kit for Jessica, but I'm waiting for her to get out of warranty before doing any serious mods. If you are looking for suppliers, with Mazda it can be tough, try....

Keep me advised on your mods & how they work out.

PS: always be cautious of guys who name their cars... : )

got half the money saved up for a turbo here too....still debating weather or not to get one plus i live in canada so car parts are much more expensive........looking at 6 grand cdn right now for a turbo setup

New here, can't leave well enough alone

We've been looking for a winter car for a few weeks.

I had settled on a 02 Protege, deferred payments, no interest, Ford discount. Went to pick it up tonight and on a whim drove a P5.

Needless to say I have to go back tommorow night to pick up the P5, not sure if the color, they are locating a 5 speeds for me and will call me in the morning and let me pick.

I liked the car, much more so than the Protege, it had a very Miata style driving/handling to it. However I felt it sorely lacked in power.

Don't want to do anything radical with it, like to get 180hp or so, like to find something along the lines of the 1800 dollar turbo kits for the Miata that they have available.

I'm hooked on turbo's, the Camaro was the first, Ric from RaceRedi just shipped me new powder coated piping for the Miata, and I'm going to have to do something to the P5.

Is there a cheap kit out, just want to up things a bit, make it a little more freeway passing friendly. I have my Miata HT sold and that would pay for 80 percent of a HKS/Greddy type 1800 dollar setup.

Intercooling isn't even that important if I can get some power out of it, this is a winter car primarily, I'd go sans intercooler from the start and throw one on next spring.

soooooooo, how much do you wanna run for? hehe. Houston here.

i think im the only guy with enough balls to consistantly run a 75 shot or any amount of n2o on thier P5 that ive seen so far, I'm waiting on some forged rods at the moment though...

best time recorded so far is 15.4 @ 90.9, thats a 50 shot, stock everything. now, now i dont know, all i do know is Mustangs aint a thang, lol.

I just got my P5 last week and I love this car. It's just so... smooooovh! But yeah, I want to be able to whup Honda's, Ac's, etc. BAD! Like I said I just got her, but things are already happening. I got the windows tinted(35% lowest you can legally go in VA), got my head unit(Kenwood cd, cdr-w, mp3 player, w/69 different illuminations), 2 woofers(power accoustic mofo 12's, 1200 watt RMS), ported box, planet audio 850 watt RMS digital mono amp(fixin to get the 1200 watt RMS model) and rims(10 spoke Alloy Tech, 17x9 wheelz w/235 R35 bridgestone Potenza 7000 Z rated performance tires). Shopping for an exhaust and intake to get started, but you know. Much more to come. Know where I could go to get that and more? Please let me know. I'm new to the import scene. My last car was a Camaro Z28 and I miss the quickness. Holla back if you can

PERFORMANCE PARTS

first and foremost figure out what you want to do. N/A or turbo. turbo gives you best for your buck and at $3600 from Flying Miata its the single best mod you can do. 7psi and 215hp at 190whp its the best bang.

money tight? no problem.

you can waste civics with the Injen CAI (the best one) and Racing Beat exhaust. those are essential, and if you do do turbo get the RB exhaust anyways. also motor mounts a lighter flywheel, heavier duty clutch (from ACT) cam shafts and headers with high compression pistons will give you some balls. all these mods will give you about maybe 160 or 170 crank HP, but it costs more money (especially for piston install).

www.srmotorsports.com and www.racingbeat.com and wwwpro5online.com <mitch's prices are quite good. dont go with AEM, Injen is much better. and dont go for the short ram either. hope this helps!

I like the SR motorsports.com site a lot better than the racing beat. Prices are cheaper and the products are better. Basically, the racing beat site has stock components except for the exhaust and the .75 inch drop springs, if you even want to call them that. I think the first thing I get will be that rear sway bar set on the SR motorsports site. Then the exhaust. I am pretty sure I can find an intake cheaper than theirs here in VA Beach. I guess these websites are like give and take. Give warnings to others about the prices and selection and take the deals that are better than the others. Thanks for the sites. I just need to buy a import magazine and look through it. I should find what I'm looking for there. Thanx for the help.

the rear antisway bar is a good choice! i have that one. dont go with anyhting but injen, i was reading in turbo magazine the differences as far as how the air flows and cools is the best with injen, in all catagories. speaking from experience, on the hottest days here running at full engine temp, and that CAI was cold! come to think of it i could chill some beers in my engine bay lol!:bs:

Im new. Just picked up my P5 tonight.. I traded in my SiR..... It was not easy but many reasons lead me to make the trade in...

Newbie questions:
-aftermarket stereos.... show me one installed. i dont imagine a normal deck will fill up the gap left after removing the factory deck.
-Mazda parts stores? Please post me some URLS... My Sir was easy to shop for.. Even Canadian tire stocks parts for it.

Too bad there is snow on the ground. But im pretty happy wiht my shinny new silver P5

I am a new member. I havent got my P5 yet, but 0% financing is pretty sweet. I think in the next week or two. Anyways, I don't know if all of you have seen this already. I was at SEMA this fall and this P5 was in the show... huge turbo.
I tried to track down the owner, but if any of you have ever gone, you know what that place is like.

15.4 and "Mustangs aint a thang"?

You must be racing some slow Mustangs then.. I had a Mustang that cost about 5000 bucks, including the price of the car, and it'd run 12's easy.

I wish I could turbo my P5 but I'd never expect the performance I had with the Mustang.

deffinatly not the performance of a 12 sec. stang, but most 4.6's don't stand a chance with me, but even with a horrible driver they still manage to get better than 15.4, more like 14.5-15.0. at least thats what I've seen.

To the first post on this thread, I am currently in the process of building a drag motor. I have already pulled a 13.8@102mph on the 1/4, and that was on 8psi. (Custom turbo kit) So I was glad to see the numbers and the potential of faster times.

My engine builder is in the process of porting and polishing my head, and building my lower block. He estimates about 300-350 horses. The thing that sucks is most of the stuff has to be custom, ie, rods, pistons, etc. real expensive.

I have some cool pics but do not know how to post them, please help so I can post them.

good luck guys and I will keep you guys posted!

I just bought a 2003 vivid yellow P5 and I'm very happy with the way it drives stock. All I've done so far is tint the windows and put on a bra. I would love to put a turbo kit on it and some other mods and I've been looking at all of yours and they're SWEET, but I'll stick to stock for now. It's a nice ride!

My new 2003 vivid yellow STOCK P5 is sweet as is. I can't wait to do some mods, but it's a smooth ride already. I look forward to seeing pics of your cars.
