Attention All P5'ers!

What is the deal with the supercharger kit from area 51. Can someone lead me to some info about this set up? thank you

Links for Turbo upgrade

Hey I'm new here, and I just bought a 2003 P5 Laser or Electric Blue, (whatever they call it!) I'm waiting for my intake from INJEN! Here's some links for a turbo upgrade just incase if you guys would like further detail! Oh by the way, for those who have a race division 1 piece cai from injen, can you tell me the results of the upgrade, and are you happy with it?

I also believe that on ebay, some guy is selling a turbo for $2000. just type in protege5 in search...i think it comes up under that.

Wshade.I don't want to burst your bubble but you can kinda figure what you have by this.My friend had his delsol dynoed a while back. For every pound of boost is 10 horsepower. So if you are running 6psi then your looking at around 60 hp.You get the picture. So you really need to get the actual hp at the wheels and then figure it from there. If i were guessing, assuming that you are running stock bottom end then I'd say around 155 to 160 to the wheels. Not tring to insult you but alot of times people are disapointed after they leave the dyno.

We've been looking for a winter car for a few weeks.

I had settled on a 02 Protege, deferred payments, no interest, Ford discount. Went to pick it up tonight and on a whim drove a P5.

Needless to say I have to go back tommorow night to pick up the P5, not sure if the color, they are locating a 5 speeds for me and will call me in the morning and let me pick.

I liked the car, much more so than the Protege, it had a very Miata style driving/handling to it. However I felt it sorely lacked in power.

Don't want to do anything radical with it, like to get 180hp or so, like to find something along the lines of the 1800 dollar turbo kits for the Miata that they have available.

I'm hooked on turbo's, the Camaro was the first, Ric from RaceRedi just shipped me new powder coated piping for the Miata, and I'm going to have to do something to the P5.

Is there a cheap kit out, just want to up things a bit, make it a little more freeway passing friendly. I have my Miata HT sold and that would pay for 80 percent of a HKS/Greddy type 1800 dollar setup.

Intercooling isn't even that important if I can get some power out of it, this is a winter car primarily, I'd go sans intercooler from the start and throw one on next spring.

Funny to see you here Eric. I remember you from ls1.com. You still have your TT Incon Z28? I fretted over the idea of getting in on Dave's initial purchaser's list back in the day. Now I guess I'm glad I didn't. Excellent kit, too bad for the guys who got burned though. I ended up selling my Z28 this year anyway.

Driving the P5 is a lot of fun. Different from an f-body for sure. I sure miss the horsepower though.

Good luck with your P5.

Hey Let me know how the Non IC Turbo system works. I fear that detonation may be a problem if you plan to run anything over a modest boost with pump gas. The Car is a blast to drive. I picked up a Spearco front mount off a Silvia for my MP5. It fit the system great because it has a 2" in and 2 1/2' out. The Garrett is 2" out and the throtle body is 2 1/2'. It was only $700.00 Cdn, you may be able to find a cheaper one that is the same style. It could save an expensive engine swap. Later/members/Brian MP5T/mazda mp5t - zoom zoom - (1).jpg

Portege 5

My plan for down the road is doing the aem short ram intake. The tanabe exhaust. Possbily turbo depending. I would also like to do the rest of the body kit and rims. Gotta see. I work for a mobile electronics store in jersey so. If anyone needs anything contact me.

Well I am new to this board and have only owned my p5 for a few months now. But here is what I have/plan and so forth for my car.

Keep in mind I am planning on really using this car for daily use as well as occasional track fun stomping on big ego's. I will also be starting a prject car within a year here that I plan building over 3-4 years for more serious competition.

2003.5 Midnight blue mp5

I have a custom intake on right now with 3" piping and a K&N style dual intake filter....sonds nice anyway.
I have purchased an eibach pro-kit and a Ractive cat-back exhaust system.
I am buying the arospeed header system in about 2 weeks as well as urethane motor mounts (AWR) and camshafts(intake definately and exhaust if it is available).
After that I am looking into a nice intake manifold(I have only seen one from corksport for our cars) and possibly a port and polish. Then the underdrive pulley set and 9lb flywheel which I will add a new clutch set at this point to handle everything.
At that point I will see where I am at, get a dyno if possible to see if my work did anything and look into turbo applications. Bolt on with a custom FMIC and the rest of the parts needed to do the turbo upgrade as well as a engine management system, probably greddy or Apex'i.

I am hoping to make 160-170 N/A and then see if I can push 210-225 with the turbo.

The only thing installed is the current intake which I will be switching to a black injen RD CAI in 2-3 months and will take pictures of all the installs if you still need more of those. The springs, exhaust, header and cams will all be installed at the same time so it wont be that hard to do pictures of each.

oh and Hi =)

hay mdagost...what kinda stuff can you hook up?
I have been lookin for a nokia 3585i for sprint service for a while to replace my POS kyocera.

Mainly i only do car audio not much cell phone. I do the kits for cars but nothing for sprint. IF u need performance or sound thats a different story.

well my bro worx at best buy so I have good deals on most car audio. I am getting to kenwood 10" subs to compliment the stock sub which retail for 119 and employee cost is 37, and the rockford amp I am getting 800watt, is like 117 or so.

performance wise? what u got? =)

I wouldn't exactly call getting a discount on car audio equipment from Best Buy a 'deal'. Pick some better subs.

why???
I am not getting into competitions for sound, I love the way it sounds already(although it could use a little better highs) and kenwood is a solid brand that is cheap and I get the best buy warrenty for 3 yrs so if anything happen I get a new one, hell at 3 yrs if nothing has happened I can still get a new one.

I am NOT into spending hundreds of daoolars on a sound system, maybe for a home theatre setup but not car audio...my balls arent that small that I need everyone to hear me coming from half a mile away and I dont play it that loud that I need super high end crap.

I get cars to drive them, not listen to them. weird huh?

Hey Anton...I am Charles..

I have been doing some major work to my car..and have tried to guide most people in the right directions when it comes to their Protege5!

I am currently working on getting my car upto 200horsepower!! I have my mods listed below!!

I can help...I would have loved to be a mod for the Nitrous Forum (Since I am one of the few...That actually has nitrous)

Chas!

I can't believe so many people are FI'ing their P5. What about warranty? What about problems? Is this your daily driver? These are all questions I have to ask.

My last car was a nice clean 2000 Acura EL - to be honest, after the I/H/E it didn't do s*** but rattle and make noises and cause problems. :bs:

This stk P5 drives nicer than that car ever will.
