AT Tranny failure caused engine damage?

I need some advice... I have a 2003 MP5 with only 19k miles.. Well for some reason if I downshift into 1st at too high of an RPM the tranny will lag severly bad and wont allow me to shift into 2nd gear, this has happend to me many of times, it's usualy when im going around a corner or slowing down for a dip..

Well the main problem is last week it wouldn't let me shift into 2nd and I didn't notice it cause my radio was full blast and it put my tac all the way into the redline (7500rpm!!!) until my car basicly was losing power from over reving then it finaly shifted into 2nd gear.. now my engine sounds like I have bent valves or something... it sounds like s*** like the lifters are sticking.. has a loud idle with a slight sticky lifter sound.. Basicly I'm guessing it ****** up my engine bad..

Is this covered under my warrenty? What do I tell the dealer I take it to? Is this a commen issue for the AT trannys to lag when you downshift to 1st from 2nd, then back into 2nd?

Anyway let me know, thanks guys.

How fast are you going when you usually try to downshift into 1st? i have driven the autos and like a manny it has a lockout for 1st gear depending on speed. if this lockout doesnt work there is a prob w/ the tranny.

the best advice i can give you is this ... play stupid ... take your car to the dealer and say that something is wrong ... its making alot of noise and it dosent shift right ... dont tell them anything about how you drive or if you were driving to hard .... basicly walk in and say hi ... fix this please .... and let them figure out if you need it replace (engine or trans ...)

from my dealings with mazda ... if you give them a reason to screw ya they will ....

just my 2c ....

Thats what I was thinking.. I was going into the turn at like 35 breaked to about 15-20 as I was going around the corner then downshifted to 1st cuase it was a hill and it then wouldn't let me shift back into 2nd fast enough... so it tagged out until the rev limiter kicked in.

What the hell are you doign shifting into first gear to begin with?? Unless you came to a complete stop, there is absolutely no reason to ever shift into first while moving.
