AT Fluid volume?

The manual states that the CX7 AT dry fill is ~ 7.8 Quarts. Has anyone measured the volume when doing a pan drain and refill?

No but there should be a dipstick that is to be measured with the engine off and on level ground.

Per my post on the other forum, if you do a plug drain & refill it is ~3 quarts.

In my opinion you cannot do a pan drain and refill on the CX7. The "pan" faces forward towards the front bumper, it is not on the bottom of the transmission. To remove it you would have to remove at least 12-16 forward facing bolts, all obstructed by wires and hoses. I don't even know if you could lift the pan forward once you removed the bolts because of all the hoses/wires there. Also, if there is no solid gasket and Mazda uses a liquid gasket for the transmission pan, reapplying that then putting the pan back on, holding it steady and putting in the bolts would be a pain.

Thanks astraelren: I realize the "pan" is vertical. Should have said plug drain and fill. So I'll get 4 quarts when time to do it just to make sure on the ~ 3 q. In addition; in reviewing the factory service manual. I see no internal filter.
