Probably have to wait another year for the tuner capability. lol Haltech Stage 4 sounds good to me.
Power falling off in the upper RPM's probably has to do with the tiny turbo Mazda put on this car. Why doesnt anybody ever consider that?
Because is a known fact that the ecu close the throttle past 5k rpm.
Too all the people that base there opinions on the off the shelf maps and what it makes for the RX8, you really shouldnt. This is a great tuning tool and I believe with proper tuning, its going to take the MS3 to a whole new level.
i bet if TRZ made it it would add more than 8HP and not cost $700.
keep your stupid ass comments to yourself and contribute something every now and then...how about that ?!? yes i stand behing PG and TRZ and have close connections with both of them......ha ha ha ...lets all point and laugh !! grow up you f'ing loser !
I understand that, and im sure that it has "something" a little to do with it, but the tiny snail doesnt help either. Cobb posted on the "other" forum the throttle plate doesent do much to cause the power to drop off, but they will turn it off for all the people who think it does. (lol2)
i agree that for huge crazy stuff you may need a tune, but a manifold on this car.....wrong. the car responded to the manifold very well. it drives like a dream and gained 30WHP what more do you want ? again thats why these cars are different they dont need to be tuned for every stupid little thing. the stock ecu does a great job. you are also wrong about the injectors and MAF comment. those two items play off each other. if you wanted to change one of them you would have some seriouse drivability problems, but....
if you get new injectors and a MAF that is calibrated for them there is no additional tuning needed. been there and done that...a few times actualy.
you seem to know what you are talking about, most of it just does not relate to this car or its ecu.
Just to give you a little insight.. When Ford released the new 2005 Mustang GT, it was their first vehicle with the mysterious closing throttle body starting at 5200 RPM. This really nosed dived the power. Upon further investigation by SCT, it was founded that Ford did this to save on transmission life. The car picked up over 17hp to the wheels when overriding the pre-mature closing of the TB. It's not surprising to see mazda do this as the transmission in it would take a beating with all that torque overtime.
Ford is also know to cutting the amount of vehicle cylinders in half on automatic transmissions while shifting too. I know my Lightning has this function which i have overridden, giving me over 21hp to the wheels between shifts.
Its a numbers game for me, ill take every little bit i can.
So your saying if you increase the maf size and the injector flow rate, its not going to need any tuning? Im just making sure im reading this right....lol
actually on my old thunderbird I put in larger injectors and got a Larger MAF that was specifically matted to those injectors. no ECU tweakage needed.
