My friends MSP puffs out a little bit of blue smoke when reving. Say he revs it and then revs it again before the idle sets it pushes some blue smoke. I know that blue is oil but his car has 11,000miles. WTF???? (boom02)

My car has 151,000 miles and mine doesnt do that....well sometimes.

Seems like the car is getting some blow by. Could this be due to overfilling the oil (Mazda sucks at oil changes!!!!) or is higher boost then stock causeing it. I checked his compression yesterday and its good all the way across. His car doesnt run lean, his plugs are nice and black/grey. No white.

Its mostly fuel...and ALL turbos use a little oil PERIOD.

Coolant would be white and it would evaporate. Fuel would be black and yes it does throw some black smoke. I know thats normal.

I just thought it was a little weird for a low milage car to puff blue smoke, turbo or not.

Mine tries to imitate a diesel truck when I'm on it......

If I caught my MSP smoking, I'd make it smoke a whole pack in front of me. That would teach it a lesson.(smoke) (blarf)

hell my MSP smokes when i get on her but, like mentioned before, its normal. our cars tend to run alittle rich thus the smoke coming from the exhaust....not to worry my friend, it happens!

I guess non of you get me (well some do). Im not talking about it smoking black. I know thats normal because the computer throws more fuel under load.

Its blue, it smoked with the stock exhaust and now its more noticable with the aftermarket. Smoking when the rpms fall usually mean the rings are going bad, the car is getting blowby (goes with rings), or the bearings in the turbo are getting ready to go. It can also mean that a piston could be cracked. If the piston is cracked it would smoke A LOT though. Lets hope thats not it.

He is running more boost than stock but his plugs do not have any white on them. There a dark gray, so the car doesnt seem to be running lean.

If you see no oil or carbon on the plugs then I would say the turbo and the rings are fine. The plugs are the easiest and most effective way to tell how the engine is running.
