Anyone recently bought a CX-9 GT in San Francisco Bay Area ?

Hi,

I'm planning to buy a 2012 CX-9 in San Francisco, bay area. I've been looking for past couple of weeks, but so far have dealt with few unpleasent dealership. Apparently, these guys seemed to pretty reluctant to talk unless you agree to their listed MSRP.

Just wondering,if anyone in this forum has recently bought a CX-9 in bay area, can share their experience or feedback. Also, I'm looking for a GT under 34k, excluding tax_license. Is it a realistic number ?

I'll appreciate if some can provide pointers.

- Thanks

i bought my 2008 CX9 GT in late 2010 (so it was used) at Tracy's Mazda. it was a bit of a drive from the south bay, but the equivalent cars in San Jose were 2-4K or so more expensive. however, they didn't budge much from the advertised price, but i think i still got a good deal.

I am in Fremont area.

It is always about cross-shopping.
I usually go by sending an email to their "internet manager" asking for a price quote.
You have to give very specific descriptions except for accessories. In fact, you can check
Mazdausa.com for each dealer's inventory (accurate within 2-3 days). Once you find
the vehicles you want, you send them emails asking for a price quotes.
After you get a couple or more emails back, you negotiate among/between dealers willing to
talk. Then, you nail down the deal before you even get into the dealership. In/Out in 30 minutes.
(test-drive can be done separately - do test-drive the one you are buying to make sure A-OK).

I bought mine from OakTree in San Jose.
I had a trade-in. Therefore, it was included in the negotiation as well.

Buying from rural dealerships is a good idea. You can save a few hundreds if you have the time
for it. Send them emails also for quotes.

If you want 2012, can you wait until Sep when 2012 will be on sale for 2013 to arrive?

Thanks for the input guys.

As I have mentioned, the dealer interactions have been pretty disappointing so far. For some reason, these guys seemed to be extremelly reluctant to talk. I tried reaching Oak Tree Mazda few times, but in vain.

Couple of possibilities, either the model is on high demand, or the dealers simply don't care.

Don't know.
It has been more than 4 yrs since I did that.
Maybe they all team up to fix prices....

What is the best price you got? In terms of relative price to invoice...

We bought our 2012 touring awd from Fremont Mazda. We did exactly what ceric said. We emailed Dublin, Tracy, oak tree and Fremont Mazda's and made them match the lowest offer. We did rush into buying which I don't recommend. We were expecting our second child when we realized two car seats will not fit well on our old cars. We got it last January. Dublin Mazda is somehow connected with Tracy Mazda. They keep comparing their cars there. They offered us 32k then with 2.9apr. We never heard anything from Oak tree Mazda and gave up on it. Fremont have the silver 9 we wanted. They threw in the roof rails because Dublin Mazda had it on theirs. With everything we paid 37k 0%apr from Fremont Mazda, 600 a month. I don't know if that's good but I hope it helps. I'm sure you could do better. Note that Fremont Mazda will not even try to talk to you unless you come to them. We went there twice. First, we looked around for a few minutes with no help at all and felt we were being ignored and left. The second time we had the printed offer from Dublin Mazda so they know were ready to make a deal. Only then they will take the time for you. Oh, we still had to ask for assistance. But that's another story.

Thanks for all ur feedback guys, and guess what, I ended up buying a 2012 CX-9 GT (w/o NAV) from Oak Tree Mazda. I was planning to get it Fremont or Menlo, based on their quote, but just thought of checking with these guys. Surprisingly, the experience at the dealership was pretty good. I ended up paying 32,800 which was $400 more than Fremont quote. Atleast, they offered me the color I was looking for and was able to bargain a roof rack as well. The give a full tank and a free oil change as well. End of the day, it
s not that bad of a deal. Hearing the number, Tracy and Dublin mazda was ready to match the offer, but I guess, it was not worth the trip. The internet division still suck though.
