Anyone in the Marines or Air Force

There is so much to compare from one service to another we could be here all day. USMC gets the job done. Period. It's a different way of life and one I doubt anyone could understand unless they were a marine.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

But, in the end, good luck and enjoy!

True story.....lol

i vote for airforce. Been out of the MC for 4 years. If you like wearing other people's long underwear and reuse the gear that other people have used go with the Marine Corps. If you want a new set of gear every year that you get to keep, go with the Airforce.

well after doing a little more research and talking with my parents..i have decided to enlist in the AF because of all the benefits and the jobs they have in there..im hoping that sometime next week my dad and i will go sign(since im not 18)...thanks to every1 in helping me make my decision!

I've met PJ's that were in Dive school and Halo school within there first year in service, almost all other branches you're going to wait several years to ever even get a chance to attend a school like that.

Like I said take your time with the decision, most importantly figure out what you want, then you can figure out what fits you the best.

Yes...another one for the AF. :D
Good luck man...if you have any specific questions or anything, PM me a message with what you want to know etc & I'll help you the best I can.
Be sure you pick a good career field, take your time & make a wise choice (DO NOT BE A SECURITY FORCES troop aka cop or SERVICES aka cook!!!).
I like my job I am a 2T2 (Air Transporter aka move sh*t off and on airplanes) & I am thinking of cross training to Loadmaster (same job, just get flight time pretty much). There's plenty of jobs bud, if you want to get something in the computer field apply for a COMM job.

Anyway...good luck...there's hundreds of jobs.

Yea I am in the AF too, I work o the C-5's. I would say go with the AF just because there are a lot more jobs and Ifeel like they do take really good care of you...I leave for Travis AFB in California in a day!

Im AF, C130 mech. Do airforce, Marines are hard core, and if your looking to stay in for 3 years, it wouldnt be that bad. They always look super sharp, super in shape, very bad ass. But AF is ALOT easier, nicer facilities, and generally not as strict. However the way things have been going rules and regs are becoming just down right annoying, the military isnt what it used to be:(

This is very good advice. Don't be a cop. That job sucks. Services isn't so bad as long as you work in billeting (hotel service). Definitely research the jobs you're interested in. You might just get what you want and regret it later. If you're interested in money, find a job with a bonus. Imagery analysis, linguists, contracting all have good bonuses. I've seen E-3s driving around new corvettes and evos. What the hell.

Travis has a good BAH. I wouldn't mind being there instead of at Beale.

Here's my advice. The 6 yr plan for a quicker E-3 isn't a bad deal if you know you're going to stay in for longer than 4 years. Don't go open general or you'll most likely become a cop. They always need cops because the ones that are in, get out. Figure out what you want to do. You'll be doing it for a while. If you want to go overseas which I recommend, don't put any stateside bases on your dreamsheet. I was in Germany and it was fantastic. I wish I had my MS3 there on the autobahn and the Nurburgring, instead of my BMW and Audi (older cars). Oh, and drinking will be legal for you since I'm pretty sure you're not 21, just don't drink and drive. DUIs are a big thing now. Last, the TI will be yelling at you at Basic, but just remember, that's not the real AF. Any more questions, post em up, there's lots of AF here.

ok I am rising the dead here. Each branch has its perk and mind *****. what do you want to do career path? I have work with all branches with good/bad ppl.

I am a network technician in a position that is alot diferent then the norm. not sure if any of you know what the globalhawk is? Check it out if you dont.

in the Army, you are infantry first, MOS second and I think the Marines and coast guard is similar, in the army for instance if you are network tech, you will learn alot about a certain system and be stellar at it, but you cant fix what it connects to, or not allowed to perform maint without that AFSC/MOS for that job. In the Airforce we are trained, schooled,TDY for classes ( not everyone but enough) and most of the time have full authority to repair something at the apprentice, because of all these we are "Subject Matter Experts" That is our purpose to be as skilled as we can be, for me not just switches and routers, but all the systems that connect to it, it connects to, the cabling/wire intrastructure, building your own cables, engineering the requirments and configurations, the installing it. There is alot more stuff, but I hope it makes sense.

I dont really feel you can make a wrong choice. Just keep this in mind, all enlisted ranks when equaled by rank and years in service all make the same base pay and housing allowance, you could be a E5 medical receptionist or you could be a front line meat shield and your getting paid the same.. either way good luck
