ok I am rising the dead here. Each branch has its perk and mind *****. what do you want to do career path? I have work with all branches with good/bad ppl.
I am a network technician in a position that is alot diferent then the norm. not sure if any of you know what the globalhawk is? Check it out if you dont.
in the Army, you are infantry first, MOS second and I think the Marines and coast guard is similar, in the army for instance if you are network tech, you will learn alot about a certain system and be stellar at it, but you cant fix what it connects to, or not allowed to perform maint without that AFSC/MOS for that job. In the Airforce we are trained, schooled,TDY for classes ( not everyone but enough) and most of the time have full authority to repair something at the apprentice, because of all these we are "Subject Matter Experts" That is our purpose to be as skilled as we can be, for me not just switches and routers, but all the systems that connect to it, it connects to, the cabling/wire intrastructure, building your own cables, engineering the requirments and configurations, the installing it. There is alot more stuff, but I hope it makes sense.
I dont really feel you can make a wrong choice. Just keep this in mind, all enlisted ranks when equaled by rank and years in service all make the same base pay and housing allowance, you could be a E5 medical receptionist or you could be a front line meat shield and your getting paid the same.. either way good luck
