i have had a new engine put in at 26000 and now they are saying after 7000 miles later that they say that i might need another one...not sure exactly whut the problem is...and im no mechanic at all but...i heard a bit of a pinging or clanking noise like when my first engine went out and now its back in the shop again...just had the new engine put in November and was in an accident on the 3rd of jan and now this...whut else can go wrong for me this year...and a bit of last year. any other ppl having any problems with engines other than the modified ones...i mean mine is bone stock....maybe thats the problem. also whut is the law on if the same thing happens over and over again...how many times does it take b4 they do whut they got to do to get you another car?any answers are welcome

i think the "lemon law" requires three visits and no-fixes on the same problem, in a given amount of time...sorry to hear about your ride .

Perfworks was just talking about some MP3's having bad ECU's and getting engine knock. Sounds like this might be your problem.

well thanx for the info paul...ill let the dealer know that tomorrow even tho they cant work on it. but thanx again for the info...i think i might msg perfworks

he is on here a lot, that was the first time i have ever heard of ECU problems with the MP3. but its a good idea to mention it to the dealer.

Here is what he wrote:
ch is correct that many things can cause detonation. cam timing if installed incorrectly plays a large roll in ignition timing balance but the case with the ecu is interesting. there have been some cases hear in jersey at a local mazda dealership where the MP3's have had faulty ecu's.they would knock at N/A with premium fuel. with a car maent to be N/A and adding a turbo, if there was a case with linux ecu to be faulty like these it will explain alot.
they, from i understand , did not REFLASH the same ecu. instead they replaced it with a new unit.
i dont know if anyone with the pro5 ecu has had a problem but that would probably be a good way to go at this point.

his particular problem after talking to him sounds more of an internal problem.
without actually seeing it there not much i can tell him.
it sounds like oil delivery problem but he should check to see exactly WHAT was replacrd the first time.
the ecu problem i was mentioning was directly a concern for detonation that the ecu controlled thru fuel and ignition delivery.
please keep us informed on what the dealer sais!

Is this noise at or around 3000 RPM? Does it only happen under accelleration around 3000 RPM? If so, it could be a spun bearing or more. How often do you check and change your oil?

thats the same info i asked him in a PM
he already had a spun bearing on the first motor and they replaced the engine he said, but the something doesnt sound right.
i asked if they checked the oil pump and replaced that too during the process
he did not know.
yes around 3000 he said especially in 3rd gear!!

actually its about 4000 rpms is when i hear the motor pinging some in 1st and 2nd and then once im in third it just does it when you get on the gas...and it doesnt do it unless you are on the gas...you can coast and you wont hear it at all but yeah i change the oil every 3000 miles
