good luck with the swap.. so you are planning on turboing it again but with lower compression as i understand?

Still turbo'd, but this time will be low compression with a fully forged block done right....

It was my fault, I originally started out with a N/A forged build thinking I was going to go NA and keep the air-ride in the car, then I took out the air-ride and put in a turbo. My shop laughed when I towed the car in, they figured I would have blown the engine years ago

Ya man, but with the high-comp pistons I bet you had some CRAZY bottom end power!

From a dead stop, if I punched it, I would be at 12+ psi before i hit 3000rpm. The car hauled ass off the line.

Oh man, seeing this really makes me scared for what I'm about to do. I'm getting ready to purchase a MSP turbo kit, but this is not something I want happening! My plan was to upgrade the valve bodies on the tranny, and run the boost at 7 psi or below .. but I'm not sure how safe that is. Are low compression pistons a must when going turbo or am I safe by just keeping the boost low?

The MSP's are all different, I have been running over 8psi since a week after I got the car. I bought it new and now have over 50k miles on it, I have been running near 10psi or over for the last year. That's just me though quite a few have blown with less boost.

Stay at 7psi or below and stock internals are fine, provided you have good fuel management to go with it.

Yeah your right, better safe than sorry. I have all the mods to go along with the boost. I have already past the point to where I'm going to blow, if it were to blow. I'm just tuning for power now, not reliability.

Yep, it hurt for about 15 minutes, but what can you do. New engine is already bought and arrives on tuesday, I should have her back on the road weds or thursday if I don't decide to wait for forged parts. Life goes on....

But maybe it's time to sell her and move on to a new project???
