Any advice? I have been doing pretty well. Been going since end of July. I started at 136, and now am about 123. The past 3 weeks I have been adding lifting into my routine. However being a girl I am getting anxious and want to see results quicker. I have seen inches come off, but hard headed and want it done faster. :)

I have been watching my calories and been hitting around 1250 a day. And workout about 4-5 times a week.

(alittle background here: I am 5 feet tall and 26.)

hey you're doing great! they say that the slower you take it off the better your chances are of keeping it off! i've lost around 20, and i started back in march. i wish i could workout more, but some physical issues (tendonitis & arthritius) are keeping me off the treadmill. i do try and walk a mile every day! i cut out almost all sugar, eat a small breakfast and lunch, usually special K with fresh fruit, yogurt and a low cal bar. for dinner it's a small plate veggies, fish, chiken....salads. i have about 10 more pounds to go to be back to my "fighting" weight. good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Well you should be proud of yoursellf. That is great. You are doing well and doing what you can/should do get to your goal. Thanks I appreciate the compliment.

It was hard for me to get the eating habits down. Since I don't eat sweets, or caffeine, or sugar really at all. I do focus more on my protein shakes and such through out the day. I drink about 3 a day each containing 24 grams of protein.

I have about 13 more lbs to get to my "goal" weight. Either that or as toned and lean as possible. I just wish I could see the results in my lower half as I am in my arms. LOL

Wow! Great job, congrats on your hard work so far, I had a similar regime as you and have similar results has you, I like you used to wiegh 195 lbs and lost 20 lbs slowly but atleast I lost it, but I hit a brick wall at around 175 and couldn't lose anymore.

So what I did to help me reach my goal of 160, I totally switched up my workout to give my body a shock to something it wasn't used to which helped me lose some more pounds like 5 or more not really to sure.

Also I switched up my diet, like you I was cutting calories to around 1500 to 1700 a day, but what I nelgecting to include was what food(s) I needed to eat into to promote what I wanted my body to do to achieve the resluts I wanted. One thing I did was actually take in more calories than I was eating, believe it or not, eating more food with the right healthy fats (ie; nuts, fish, etc) have certain nutrients that help your body preform certian functions like speed up the metabolism and force the body to burn fuel (like stored fat), these fats help produce more testosterone which is what speeds up the metabolism which is paramount for you because your a woman and your body doesn't really produce enough testosterone to promote wieght loss. Also natural sugars like fruits also help the "fuel" burning in the body and veggies give the energy to do so.

As far the protein your doing good, your taking in 1/3 of protein for each pound that your wiegh, but try to switching to natural protein sources, if you want to look leaner, natural protein in red meat may help you get leaner, but you don't have to eat beef in every meal, instead try a balanced diet to get certain proteins throughout the day (eggs, dairy, veggies, and meat).

Also keep working with wieghts, your a woman and your body doesn't produce testosterone like we do, so you won't bulk up like we do unless your hitting it very hard, remember to look leaner do more reps of less wieght.

I did this and lost all the wieght I wanted to and I am currently 5 lbs UNDER my goal weight, but it was a long process for me (approx 8-9 months). Men safely can lose about 1% of body a week and woman can lose half of that safely. So stay determined, it's a slow process but it does work.

Give it a shot, it might help! G'luck

Hmmm what would you suggest then as a "shock" for me? I am at a loss here.

Well for my size and weight 1250 calories is fine. I have been doing great.

Oh and Mr Magnum GREAT JOB!!! But why do you want to be smaller? Sounds like you are at a great weight. You should be proud.

if what you want to do is lose weight i'd recommend eliminating protein shakes. protein builds muscle and muscle weighs a lot. if you're only eating 1250 calories/day and having 3 protein shakes i'd venture to say you're not eating much else. that's not a good idea. protein shakes are supplements, not meals. a majority of your diet should be real food. i'd say switch your protein shakes to things like salads with chicken and other healthy foods.

True. But just wanted some feedback and advice. Some people are totally happy with the weight they are. Funny thing is I started this to help my husband. Now I am more obsessed over it than he is.

Seriously, just eat healthy and mix in some exercise, be active, 130 is a great weight. Too skinny is really bad and to be honest with you, guys don't like it. I know you are doing it for yourself and nobody else but I figure i mention it. I need to lose 15-20 lbs and the g/f wants to lose some as well and she is also looking at around 130, she is 5-3 maybe 5'-4". Anyways good luck. Good to hear.

jred321: I understand where you are coming from. My protein drinks are super low in calories. 120 calories per serving. I want to build muscle and keep myself from losing the muscle i have. I am lifting now so protein is helpful.
I have been taking protein this whole time. And have lost with it. But now that I am lifting I have slowed down.

but I promise you that I am not using the protein as a meal replacement I can't. Not enough calories or nutrients.

jred321:

My exercise is 30 minutes of cardio each time I work out 4-5 times a week. With at least 3 of those days lifting. Squats, leg press, pull ups, pull downs, abs, weighted pelvic lifts, and more.

Sorry guys I for whatever reason don't have the "quote" option.

SANDBLASTER1:
I appreciate it. I want to get down as low as possible. Or as lean and toned as possible. I hit a part of my life where I realized how I looked. I did not look bad, but just not how I wanted. I wanted to be able to go out and feel confident. And with the hubby doing into the academy to be honest I will be jealous of his weight loss and I did not want to look horrible.
So I am happy at 123 but not content.
