Anyone else go through this?

Mazda Protege ES
(bicker) recently I started having problems with my tranny. I sent the car(2003 Pro ES) into the dealer on the 22 apr 04. They told me that they would have to replace the tranny. I was quite disappointed as the car is only 3 months old. anyway I say fine do what you need to do. As of today the service guys still tell me they haven't received the tranny yet. This was after I followed up with them last Monday and was told that it should be in late last week. Now they are saying it may be another few days.

Has anyone else gone thorough this. This is starting to get to me. Is it because my car is still under warranty that I'm not a priority. Or is Mazda really slow or they just don't give two @#$@!'s

I've already complained to the guy who sold me the car and I'm about to talk to their manager. I' was also thinking of calling Mazda Canada but apparently from word of mouth it would be a waste of time.

I feel like I'm getting jipped, don't want to sound like a broken record but for what I payed for this new car i shouldn't have to worry about this @#$@! at least not 3 months after.

man this bites....thanx for hearing me out.

I've been trying to get my "chipping" paint repaired for three months already. I've received all excuses that exist from my dealer AND Mazda Canada. They suck! I've gotta call then again today. But trust me, I'm gonna win my case. I've been visiting then over and over, I keep calling....be persistent and DEMAND something be done now! (protest)

DO NOT let them think you're a pussy! Scare them!

here's the latest,

Yesterday I talked to the manager who is also the one who sold me the car. The only thing he could do for me was put me in a P5 for now until the tranny gets fixed. His excuse is that the tranny is coming from Japan and they're having a hard time in getting an ETA. If this was the case they should have told me that from the very beginning. I've been driving around in a '02 LX which is o.k which they supplied as a courtesy car.

At this point I'm curious to know other peoples experiences with Mazda service.
Am I the only one?

maple_leaf... I know what you mean by being persistent, If I hadn't called to follow up myself, I wouldn't have heard from them, I haven't called Mazda Canada yet but I will probably do that today. Who did you talk to? their compaints dept. I would presume?

This should answer your question as to others getting the shaft from Mazda Inc.

2003 6, loaded as they come.....$23,000+. I agreed to my daughters wishes for this first year car due to a great experience with a 91 626 which was her starter car at 16 and the great reviews on the 6. The 626 held up to my kid so Mazda must us some Loctite to put them together.

Now for our 6 nightmare. All is well for 5800 miles and then one day starting the car yielded (1)white smoke from the exhaust (its early summer 2003), (2)AT light blinking, car lurching and almost wanting to die, undrivable. Dealer towed, no probs found. OK, this is good, maybe a one time "vapor lock". Weeks later the car stalled on the road with almost every dash dummy light on, towed, no probs found..ugh!
Incident #3 was a combo of the first two rounds of symptoms but the car started after a few minutes so we drove it to the dealer with no probs found other than a bad knock sensor reading so they replaced that. At this time the headliner was falling down so our dealer ordered one and installed it. The fourth incident a few months later was much the same as before with the car starting after a few minutes although a radical pulling to the left was happening. No probs found as far as the engine but the rack and pinion had to be replaced. Sounding more like a patched up used car every day I'm thinking. Incident #5 was a repeat of of all that has happened engine wise so we drive it to the dealer, drop the keys on the service counter and tell them they can have their car back. This car is driven by my kid in her first year of college out of town. So much for going with a new one to avoid worry. Our local dealer has been great BUT they have NO help from Mazda Inc. Mazda even wanted to end the loaner and us drive the car until a cure could be found for the anomolies. Yeah, right. I supposed to let my kid take it to a college town or let my pregnet wife drive it. I'm out as far as a daily driver on this because my work requires a truck.

You may ask how we managed to get 31,000 miles on the car. Well, it goes weeks or a month or two without trouble. Our dealer says that the miles must be taken into consideration as far as trade in. My point is, any miles over 5800 we have not had use of a car that we can let our kid go off in. She has to ride with friends out of town due to the fact that this heap will quit when it gets ready. Some have said "whats the big deal, they will tow it in". Put your 19 year old or your expecting wife in it and send them off. I think not.

We are easy going and just want some decent service out of a car we paid new money for. Heres the kicker, to put all this aside and get into a left over 03 or 04 will be around $10,000 difference. To force the issue using our states lemon law will cost $6,600 if Mazda goes along and $6,600 PLUS lawyers fees if they don't. So lets put this in perspective.....We will have a minimum of 6,600 in a colateral buyback or 10,000 in an outright trade in. That looks like around 30,000 to 34,000 invested and thats assuming we could stomach doing business with Mazda again. Looks like we should have gone with a BMW or Volvo to start with. Edmonds and a couple of calls shows that the average trade in on the 14 month old car is around 15,000. Since when does a car lose 40% of its value in a little over a year?

Tyger, I'm curious as to which dealership this is?
I've had no problems at Westowne

It was Gyro Mazda.... finally after over 6 weeks the tranny was replaced, and it was filthy from being out in the lot for a long time. So far the car is driving smoothly. I filed a complaint with Mazda Canada and wrote a letter as well saying that they should do something to keep me satisfied, I wasn't asking for a free monthly payment, just a free service, brake pads discount on a spoiler or something. Here's there response....

If they were having issues with there computer system the dealer shoud've known that and let me know the first time that it would have been awhile, then I would understand and not think twice, they just kept telling me one thing after the other.

Man, that mazda 6 story makes me wanna cry. IMO, that's MAZDA'S responsibility.

Thats some BS... but i also had a hard time getting some parts recently... mazda may have a parts shortage. Also in my experience they always gave me a loaner ...even without the MAP. i have a nicer dealership maybe, and i am in the US...mazda canada has been the source of some interesting warranty stories

i have a 2003 es and it broke down coming back home from a trip, anywways mazda put a new motor in it, which was good and only took about a week. then after 90 miles on that it breaks again, turns out the intake is defective and has to be replaced. my dealership says there is a tsb out on it, and another car in my town had the same problem. anyways the new intake took a week to come in, but there was no gasket and no fuel rail, so this is ordered the gasket takes about another week and still no fuel rail. so they order it again, and it is on backorder and is coming from canada. so i wait and wait and it still isn't here. then after around a week and half i find out it is comin from japan and is finally off backorder. mazda has some sorry asses working for them, that's all i can say. my dealership has been awesome about it though, just mazda sucks ass. i know my signature says hondas suck, but after all this s*** it makes me wonder if i shoulda bought a honda, i've never heard of all these problems with a honda or a toyota. we're gonna write some letters and see if mazda will do anything to help us out and make up for all this s***.

utter crap in my opinion.... in these instances there should always be a back up system, be it fac machines, or postal... i'ver heard that usps is bad, but it can't be so crap that you can't order s*** from japan pronto...
i'd ask for 10% of original purchase price [er week that they had the car

maple leaf:- i had mazda admit the paint was crap to me.... mainly due to the fact i was with a mate of mine (who is a journo - check out speed mag, if you can )

in responese to the original thingo... i;ve always had dramas with any service department, wether its dealer or not... best you tkae that thign home,a nd do it your self

when my car was only about a month or 2 old my moon roof got stuck in the open posision. took it in and they said the motor had burned out and they would replace it under warrenty once the part was in. I ask how long that will take, they say a month or so. I shake my head and take it as fact and figure i dont have another option until it dawns on me that they had, what 20 maybe 25, other proteges on the lot, prolly half with moonroofs. So i call them back and say "its spring time, its going to rain soon, a month to wait for this part is simply unacceptable, pull it from another car on the lot and let that car that doesnt have an owner be broken" they say ok and i get it back within a few days. 3 whole months later i get a call from the parts department saying my moonroof motor is in and im thinking, did anyone remember to replace the motor in the car they stole mine from? i hope they didnt sell that to anyone before replacing the part! Anyways, my point is, if they dont have your part, tell them to take it from something on the lot because you drive your car everyday and the ones on the lot just sit there looking pretty and because you paid $$ for yours and they havent gotten anything from the ones they havent sold yet.

You write them back and tell them to take this letter and "shove it" This is not fair that people have to go thru s*** like this.
