Anybody got a CarPC? Where'd you run your cables?

.

Thus far, I've got:

1 x 3.5mm audio jack -> Will come from headunit area
7 x USB cables(CarPCadapter,CDROM,Screen,MOUSE, Keyboard,EMS, SPARE) -> From Headunit, glove box, arm rest
2 x 16GA wires(for remote shutdown switch) -> from arm rest area
1 x Big ass VGA Cable -> Will come from headunit area.

So I've got quite a bit of stuff to run from the headunit on back to the trunk area.

I've currently got hotwire under the left side door sill going to the trunk. IIRC there doesn't seem to be much room to fit VGA cable + USB cables there.

plenty of room. Remember the Sirius cable is a very thick wire running from radio to rear of car and it fits under the pass door sills nicely...

Thanks Boss!!!

I just finished running all of my wires. Biggest problem was getting my screen to fit, the VGA cable kept hitting the back wall.

But I must have added about 5lbs worth of cables, and you were right, there was plenty of room down there. Got a super thick VGA cable and about 7usb cables down there.

Didn't remember it being that much room?

that does look really cool. I wanted to do something similar, but i just dont have the time to build one rightnow. so i'm opting for the manual screen slot and using Jensen Nvx-3000pc 7" Windows Xp Personal Computer W/ Wifi And Gps Navigation

seems to be the easiest way to go about it and also the cheapest. but the performance of the computer is not that good for the price. only 256 mb of ram? wtf? and 30 gb harddrive, it is preloaded with nav, and wireless wifi and windows vista. seems like a very nice unit to use.

there is a video about it on cnet, check it out. its a great alternative to those that dont have the time and skills to do something like the holy grail. However, yours is def very oem looking.

I know what you mean about having time. :)

I work too much, and have to divide time between that, sleep, travel for work and all of my little projects around.

I've pretty much been putting this thing together for about a month now, devoting an hour or two whenever I can to get this thing running. Most of my time was spent tweaking the PC to my liking in my house before install.

I'm sure I could build one and install it now in a day or less since I know pretty much how to configure most of everything after I build it.

Took about 4 hours to install everything and run wires. During which time I had everything running and proceeded to kill my battery :(

Pics when finished please. so far looks very cool.

Here ya go. That one pics is behind the rear headrest, where I mounted my GPS reciever. It just snakes between the back of the back seats.

As you can see, I need to do some serious tyding up of my cables that are in my trunk. I will mount the USB cables and such to my Sub box some way.

That's baddass!(bow)

I think it's a 7 inch touch screen, in the motorized map compartment. It will get washed out in direct sunlight.

I've actually removed it from my car and I am in the process of returning it to get a replacement.

Inititally I got it, and the display was blank. I managed to find out what the problem was and fixed that.

Then the damn thing stopped opening and closing properly. I've had it open but can't figure that one out. It's been a PITA since I've owned it.

Not to mention I got some new MP3s I want to listen to :(

I should invest in making my own.
