Any spring rates?

:
13 MX-5
Are there any spring rates for the stock OEM MS3 springs and other springs for this car? I've been trying to look, but I can't find any.

I believe the stock spring rates are:

Front: 188 lbs/in
Rear: 171 lbs/in

I pulled those from an Australian forum some time ago, but I haven't been able to really confirm it with a secondary source yet...

I don't know about any of the aftermarket springs. Nobody ever seems to publish their rates, which makes it difficult to make informed suspension tuning decisions...:(

Thanks. I've been trying to look for rates but I can't find any. I would like to lower my car and don't have the money for the good s***. That's why I'm trying to see what the stockers are and try to get some a little stiffer.

claims of 188F/171R are indeed correct for the stockers. eibach's regular 3 prokit is 160F/171R, are linear, and offer like 1.25"+ drop when installed on an ms3 due to the heavier weight of the ms3 up front.

eibach is in proto stage for a mazdaspeed3 specific spring kit. track testing should be completed by end of may, first week in june. i dont have specifics on it yet.

The Mazdaspeed Sport Spring Kit (for Mazdaspeed3, part no GRMS-8M-L25) advertises a 15mm drop front and rear, with 30% higher spring rates.

Assuming the 30% is correct, that makes for spring rates of 244/222 versus the stock rates of 188/171.

I have a request for more info in to see what the actual springrates are and will update if/when they reply.

that's a big negative. Just a completely inept response from an email drone that is used to answering basic questions about the car that could otherwise be found on the mazdausa website.

I even requested they send my question on to a technical department that would be able to answer the question and they basically refused. This is not acceptable customer service, IMHO and Mazda USA should be ashamed. In fact, there have been a number of things I've been dissatisfied with Mazda USA over. All I can say is it's a damn good thing they have absolutely no part in the design/manufacturing of the Mazdaspeed3 or else it'd be a disaster as well.

I find it odd that so many aftermarket companies also mention the percent stiffer than stock! Just tell me the specific rates please. The Cobbs i believe are 15% and 30% f/r, just tell me the rate and do not use kilos as the measure damnit. just strange imo

I don't mind specs in metric... since the rest of the world uses it and it is easily converted to english units but yeah, the whole 'percent stiffer' thing is retarded.

It's for advertizing purposes and same reason we're still on the standard measurement too. Koolade drinkers love the sound of, "now with 30% more VTEC!.." or "$5 foot long".

Yes, unfortunately that sounds like an untuned suspension to me. and just a set of springs thrown on to drop for look or stiffen boy racer style with the bounce over bumps. I have only seen the Cobb track tested, any other reports you guys have seen for just springs/bars?
