Any photographers in here?

no problem. i guess i just misunderstood the purpose of the thread.

I guess it's just to post and get some critique and to do the best you can with what you have. Let's try that! LOL
It's also to ask questions, and look for information and share all our experiences since we did all start from somewhere. No one turned pro or serious at a drop of a hat. So a lot of people on here have their own stories and their own experiences.

This exemplifies what the thread is about. There are no preconceptions or limits to what people can post. We bounce ideas off each other and inspire each other to test ourselves and the photographic boundaries further each time. I like how there's no judgement other than friendly critiquing and the occasional jealousy against someone's ability (and equipment).

The last 10 pages are full of GOOD photos, maybe not ones BEST work, but images that are pleasant to look at. We're all here because we have at least two common interests, but I'm pretty sure most of us leave the ego at the door...

personally, i would really like feedback/critiques to be part of this thread. i don't post photos here because i'm fishing for compliments(although i will accept them!). i want to get ideas, feedback, suggestions, discussions, pointers, perspectives. i also like giving out feedback. i tend to be very straight forward about it, but it's never mean-spirited or something one should take personally. i just say it like i see it.

Well I hate to say it, but stating that picture of peoples pets is not very interesting is not critiquing. It is just a false statement. If you wanted to critique then you could have said something about the photographic quality of the picture and not the content.
(iagree)

understood. the point of my post was NOT "all pet photos suck." the comment was on the photographers personal connection with the subject(which i explained). but i'll be more careful with my words next time!

not bad for a "beginner!" you've done well to integrate foreground elements in some of the landscapes. draws the viewers eye into the shot and gives it more depth/richness. blue skies are nice but tend to look a bit flat. if you like the location it's worth going back at different times of day or with different clouds/weather to get more texture in the sky. i'd also just say give more thought about the focal point of the shot when you are framing it...

Right on, thanks. Yea, since I haven't taken lots of pictures, I was beginning to just take my camera wherever I went. So those ocean shots were spur of the moment, but worked with the lighting best I could. I have tons more shots, but too much to sift through lol.

LOL Trevor...
