Here are a few pictures from a hike today with my boyfriend, Ken and my parents. :) The location is at Mine Hill in Roxbury, CT. It is an old iron & granite mine, shut down for approximately 150 years now.

Everything/high-res are here: http://www.larawdesigns.com/MineHill/

Looking up through one of the furnaces.

A view into the upper mine. It is unfortunately closed off with reinforced angle iron bars. It didn't stop me from getting right up next to it and sticking the camera and flash through the bars!

I was offered a (not much) used Canon 40D with 18-55kit lens. The combination came up after wanting to get the Canon 500D also with 18-55 kit lens.

I'm not sure what do to do, because I would like a new camera (the 40D looks like new) and for the difference in price I could buy another lens for the 40D.

Not sure what to do... Any advice?

Awesome Lara. I wish we had places like those around here. I know of a couple in RI.

Here's a Romeo and Juliet remake.

Do I spy a can of PBR?

Great location for some interesting shots. It's nice to see some unique places like that. Too bad you couldnt go inside.

500D?

Anyways..the 40D should serve you well. It's not as fast the as the 50D as it still uses the older Digic processor but it's sufficient. Depends on what you are going to use it for and what you are shooting.

Canon 500D - link

I'm looking to upgrade from the Minolta Dimage7 that I currently have, mostly because it's slow and cant shoot anything in low light condtions. Also there's a battery life issue those Minoltas are known for.

Basicly I would use it for "everyday" shooting (cityscape, landscape concerts and different venues) and when going on trips (planing a trip around Europe in spring).

I think that 40D is an overkill for my current knowledge of photography, but the asking price and the condition of the camera are really good.

Just think of the 40D as something that can help you grow and wont' need to upgrade for a while.
