Any photographers in here?

hate to break it to y'all, but photos of your pet cat/dog/lizard/fish/goat/etc. are usually not very interesting. of course everyone thinks that THEIR pet is the cutest one in the world! it is more difficult for the photographer to have an objective perspective of the image if there is a personal or emotional connection with the subject(whatever the subject may be). anyway, just something to think about while shooting/posting...

Who are you to judge? I smiled at the cat photos and thought the lizard photo on the previous page was quite creepy/excellent. You post photos almost exclusively of your car, which you have a personal/emotional connection to (as we all do to our own cars). While I love your car and what you've done with it, I like mine more... Doesn't mean I don't enjoy looking at some your pictures.

Everyone likes taking photographs of different things, and this is our forum for sharing those photos... No killing the mojo in here bud!

Hehe...my very first digital camera was a Kodak DC-215. 1MP power baby! This was when they first came to market. It cost around $300 and came with an 8 megabyte card! That's right....megabyte. lol More info: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/DC215/DC215A.HTM

I thought that the cats were the subject of him getting his new camera. We all take "test" pictures or pictures that arent really serious or have any relevance to anything. It's just fun, and it's a hobby to a lot of people. The subject matter just depends on what people like etc.

Like me, I post a lot of portraits and some landscape stuff...but it might not be someone's cup of tea. And I don't post animals or cars much but that's just because I haven't been to the zoo in ages and the car gets boring pretty quick.

Altspace posts a lot of pics of his rx8, and a lot of them are older shots, but no one complains..because they turn out great. And everyone here loves cars.

Radar This posts only car pictures..and it's interesting etc, but maybe some other people wishes he can put his skills towards other subjects.

Things like that. It's all preference really.

word, and nice ride

Heck fricken yes!!! lol floppy disks!!

I am trying to find some sample pictures, but I think the gremlins of time have eaten them all.

And FYI, I loved the picture of Smoky!! Looks like he is about to take over the world. Very sharp and dynamic picture.

Yes, sometimes I post older cars pics though not often, but for this thread I try to keep the subject matter beyond my car since this is more of a general photography thread. I'd love to photograph more people but I don't know that many willing to and are local, thus I turn to nature, animals, etc. to explore my creativity.

i am open to all subject matter be it cats/cars or otherwise. i'm just saying it's the execution and quality of the shot that makes it for me. everyone is going to have a different subjective response to an image as to whether they "like" it or not. but there are also a lot of objective aspects to an image as well: composition, color, quality, lighting, technique, texture, background, sharpness, perspective, framing, etc. so, as mentioned, the photographer can easily lose sight of some of the objective aspects if they have an emotional/personal connection with the subject. i post tons of photos of my car(in other threads) but only shots i feel are of a certain objective quality. i don't post out of focus shots of my car sitting next to a dumpster with a some one's beat up corolla in the background just 'cause i think my car is the s***.

anyway, not trying to kill anyone's mojo here. just giving feedback/ideas which i only assumed was part of this thread. i know many members here have expressed interest in improving their photography skills and discussing images/equipment/technique/etc in this thread. if you just want me to say "nice shots." when you post something up, i can do that too... but i think it would be a lot less interesting.

Not quite sure what you're getting at bud. The people who post in here are a bit more serious about their photos than in many other threads and I can't find one photo in the last 10 pages that doesn't meet or surpass any of the guidelines to a good photo that you just described. Its all good, but it seemed like your OP was a little out of the blue...

really? you have no idea what i'm talking about? and every photograph in the last ten pages is of the highest quality? i suppose this thread is not for me...!

Awesome Judman!

Ok guys, let's just keep this thread to photos and information. Take anything else to PM if you wish to continue. Otherwise I'll be forced to delete posts. No interweb fighting. (blah)

To display the best photo's that you and your camera can produce.

I have thousands of flower pictures. Most with my old Casio, but still thousand. I LOVE taking pictures of them. lol You can get some amazing picture and they have all the patience in the world and tend not to move or complain if the pictures don't turn out.

can we get a bigger street sign please? lol...some of you locals in here should recognize that location...
