so adorama sends me an email saying that the camera is backordered and will ship in 10-14 business days. fine. i'll be patient, not a big deal. then i just get an email saying it shipped ups ground. yay?
I have a question about macro lenses. You can still use a macro lens for 'normal' shooting right? Like could I use a macro lense for taking pictures of cars, but not necessarily be right up next to the subject? If that makes sense. If so, then is there any drawback to using a macro compared to just 'normal' lenses? I need to replace me 70-200mm Nikkor, because that is the only lense I use for motorsports because of the zoom it provides. Would there be any drawback to using a 70-300mm macro lens for this?
One last thing; is this lense any good or not? I'm still relatively new to photography, so I don't know exactly what brands to look out for or whatnot. I'm obviously not a pro, and my budget is really small, so I'm looking for deals. By the way, I have a Nikon D50.

I ordered my nikon D40 from adorama, good people so far, they have no problem e-mailing but thier response time is poo, either way on the phone they are very helpful, especially being overseas

with a macro lense your going to have a lower f-stop. this means that you wont be able to focus on the whole image if you wanted to. so you can use it like a normal lense.... you'll probably wanna back up some as it will naturally appear as if its zoomed in a little.... but if your wanting to have the whole image in focus... it would be a MUCH longer exposure than using a kit lense or a "normal" lense.

I don't really think that will be a problem for me. Let's just have an example just to describe my question a little bit better. I used to use my Nikon 55-200mm lens for motorsports, until the AF motor went bad. How would a 28-200mm zoom with macro compare to that? Like how would shooting motorsports be different? This is the lens I am thinking of getting to replace the 55-200mm:
