that rig has less than 100$ of material...and I work for a P. Eng and we have a shop downstairsit would be easy peasy to get stuff welded at the cost of a lunch.

Nice picture. Was the flash mounted on the camera or triggered remotely? If its on the camera let the camera do all of the hard work of figuring flash power level. Canon's TTL metering pretty good and it will be able to calculate proper exposure easily and automatically take into consideration aperture and ISO.
It was on the camera. For some reason I dont' like shooting in any sort of auto modes. I'll try next time.
