Any photographers in here?

I just recieved a RF remote flash trigger. I took advantage of the sub-freezing temps and got my brother to stand in with his 2006 Mazda3.

Both pictures are at ~1/500sec @ f/11. PP was minimal and included slight levels, unsharpen mask, and a little vingette. Single SB-600 with a warming gel fired at ~1/4 +/-1 stop based on distance to subject.

this pic is nice but it would have looked much better without the car imo ;)

Nice Work! Did you read up on this shooting on strobist?

Of course I did! I love that site. I have not posted any pics, but only because I *just* got my remote flash trigger. Its an eBay trigger from Qiqiwo...yeah funny name for a company in mainland China. The package took ~10 days to get here and was listed as a $3 "gift" on the Chinese Customs label.

BTW, I have also taken to reading John Harrington's photo business blog (http://photobusinessforum.blogspot.com). As a Pro photog I'm sure you can benefit from John's experience.

Hey, it was supposed to be a car shoot...I did crop the image to remove most of the car. I feel like there is a benefit to having the subject nearly centered, which is why I left some of the car on the bottom-right.

(note: I'm no photographer.. at all. Taken with a Canon S80).. 1/6 shutter, f/2.8, ISO50 (yikes.. indoor shot too, no tripod haha)

I'm bad at photos of living subjects, I take too long to set up shots, get focused, etc usually.

I used to shoot the S50 so I know its not too slow to take pictures of subjects like kids and pets. The key is volume. With the LCD its easy to compose and re-compose constantly, even as you try and stay positioned in front of a 2 years old.

My shot from above is part of a series of maybe 50 ot 70 shots. I got fours I converted from NEF and only two that are what I would call good. Thats a 35:1 ratio of crap shots to good shots. Of course that was the very same afternoon I recieved my Micro-Nikkor so a typical shoot may not adhere exactly to that metric.

All of your pics are very nice, but I love this one. I didn't notice the text on the page at first. Very clever!! If this was taken for a class, I hope you got an A+. (2thumbs)
