I'm using the Nikon SB-600 flash. The head of the flash pivots AND rotates. The range of motion is impressive; I can go 90* straight up, ~135* to the right and 180* around to the left.

That's how I bounce the flash off foam core board camera left and illuminate the subject in front of the camera. I've also spun the head 180* to the back and up some to bounce off the foam core to give a very soft effect without heavy shadows on the subject.

Oh ok... I was wondering if you were using ring light to get such great shots... Your work is impressive! You've inspired me to go out and spend 20 bucks on a homemade macro studio, now just got to purchase a true 1:1 lens

Both of these are great shots. The key to such a shot is maintaining good contrast so the text stands out from the background. This is probably done with careful post processing. Excellent results! For the first image, did you convert to B&W or was that a camera setting?

Is the d40 supplied with the 18-55 lens that the d50 came with?
I hear the 18-70mm D70 kit lens is a major upgrade from that lens. They probably can be found pretty cheap too!

Nice pictures btw, i like the "punchy" color tones the camera produces.

First was taken last week around 5:00pm. I've been wanting to try a daytime moon shot for awhile. This seemed like a good one. Needs some PP to remove the noise from the sky.

This one was taken a couple of nights later. Not sure I like the PP on this one. Adjusted contrast, highlights, etc...

Hi all,
Here's my last picture, I wanted to do something nice called "evil chair" since I have bright red leather styled chairs at home with a nice spot light.
You'll see, the quality is REAL bad, I though my camera was on optimal settings but it was on the poorest I think (Nikon D50) :mad: Can anyone tell me what is the best (optimal) setting to have the biggest picture with the best quality ?
Anyway... here's my shots final shot (with crappy quality), so frustrating to have so much grains :mad:

it looks to me like there is alot of noise in there, either from a high iso, or from pp in photoshop or something to enhance the sharpness

what mode are you using? AV, P, M ??? please dont say auto

on a side note I ordered the canon 100-400 L IS yesterday (first) I cant wait to get that bad boy (glare)

Took this pic of the TII and did a bit of photoshop. The lens flare is real though, no fake flare.

P.S. I don't give a s*** that my tag is showing, just don't do anything unadmirable with that info.

If you could provide the exif data, we might be able to help. As it is, some creative PP could really make that picture work.
