less than $500. hope fully around $300. I just want to start learning and experimenting. im always the photographer anyway, i cant recall one vacation ive taken where im in more than 5 pictures out of prob 1000 of them. ive always liked taking pictures but ive never owned a camera, actually one camera for about 2 weeks then i had to give it to a friend to replace his bc my gf broke his.

I have point and shoot Nikon P100. It's nothing as fancy as these guys use, but it takes decent pics. I'm still learning how to set it up for different lighting and speeds. Lots of settings and an amazing zoom. It might fit your price if you want something new.

If I had to start over, I don't think I could have picked a better starter camera than my 20D.
