Any photographers in here?

i'm not familiar with cannon lenses... but i know the professional ones are whiteish... my fren walks around with a 200mm f/1.8 like its cool lol

200m 1.8?? You sure?? I think the lowest I have ever seen is a 200mm f2

But no Jupiter lenses do not ring any bells.

there is a canon 200mm 1.8 and its expensive! http://www.pbase.com/cameras/canon/ef_200_18u

And I usually do, but I didn't want to be "that guy" more than I already was. A couple people confused me for the wedding photographer...

On a side note, the ACTUAL photographer liked my eye and said she wants to get in touch with me for maybe some freelance work. I was really drunk, so maybe she just wanted the comedic factor. She was using a 5D MkII with the 24-70 and a 50mm 1.8 at the reception. Of interest was a lens I had never seen before she was using at the ceremony. It was HUGE, silver, and apparently made in Russia. All I could gather is that it was a f/1.4. Any ideas?

EDIT: Jupiter lenses ring any bells?

russian for canon mount makes me think of the one fish...prob that's not it

Could be a Leica lens.

Good try, though... the F-22 is a hell of a plane. Puts on a great performance too!

but wait there's more :)
over 1000 shots but you know how it goes... the odds weren't on my side

i knew this day was going to happen but i was dreading it. this weekend someone let me use their Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 ED lens and a 70-200mm f2.8 VR lens. such nice pieces of glass, now my kit 18-55 feels like junk and i want to drop big money on lenses.

Those are some big dollar lenses :p
You really don't need both those lenses
If I had the dough I would pick up the 70-200mm f/2.8

A much cheaper option would be the 18-200mm vrii to replace the kit lens

they were different people letting me borrow lenses, i did also use that 18-200 vr but the f3.5-5.6 didnt let in as much light. that would be the lens i could probably afford though.

A good set of lenses would be the
10-24mm to cover the wide
50mm f/1.4 for low light
And 18-200mm vr for zoom

Every other focal range isn't really needed. You can just move back and forth
For problem areas there's always a camera setting that can fix it. A nice tripod could also help and a decent flash for other photos.

My hobby kit contains
D5000
A 10.5mm fisheye
12-24mm
18-55 kit lens
35mm f/1.8
85mm micro
70-300mm vr
Sb-600 flash
and a walmart tripod

Got just about all the coverage I need
I'm no pro so I don't need $2000 lenses but would love to have some :)
