Any photographers in here?

sweet shot... yes it is very difficult.. i think the only thing that can make it easier is lots and lots of practice

not any shots im proud of... composition is a bit stale... though some cropping from the top or bottom could help

for motion blur, just put your camera mode on shutter priority (Tv). Pick a shutter speed that gets the desired amount of blur, and let the camera pick your aperture. It's as simple as that.

As far as the "half is sharp, half is blurry" thing, all of your subjects were moving at or away from you. For the best motion blur with the sharpest subject, you need to be photographing something moving as close to 90 degress from you as you can. As said, the most important thing is practice. Just keep clicking.

i just dont get enough practice in. there arent many events near my area that allow me to take a bunch of pictures and try stuff out. i hit a couple things a year and do some trial and error.

You've got streets, traffic lights and moving cars... Sure you may not look normal to other people, but who cares? At least it's how I sometimes do it ;)

Haha amazing ^^^^ and thanks for the comments the light was changing all the time so i was bouncing back and forth between 1/800ths and f5.6 and up to f8 So it was just trial and error i had to set my focus on manual so i could set it to one point and capture the subject as it goes through the spacing between the fences. It is very hard to get just the right amount of blur and personally i was happy with the sharpness of the subject and a little blur of the back ground but everyone has the preferences. Maybe i will get another chance soon shooting some rolling shots to get another try at the motion blur thing. Ill post more pictures as soon as i try it out! This thread has a ton of info in here and gives everyone great ideas for things!

Finished editing my photo shoot from this past weekend with the 3 models, Ferrari Testarossa, and my RX-8. Was loads of fun. My first time ever shooting models on my own as the main photographer.

Oh yea, very limited equipment. Only my Canon T1i and few different lenses. No flash.

-This one...When you're shooting from this angle, try to make their hips more proportionate to her head. Right now the hip on the darker haired girl is way too big. Not flattering.

Other things

- Wide angle make people look fat.
- make them point their toes all the time..it elongates the legs and flexes the calf muscles..make them look sexier
- Wide angle distorts their faces

other than that...pretty good man.

Making the most of limited equipment and still looks awesome! I love your work Mr. Altspace!

Oh yeah, and my equipment that I have on a daily basis is less than what you had for this shoot....:'(

Very good points on that. Didn't know most of them and will try as I have some shoots with models coming up

Awesome! Thanks for the "pointers".

Nice when you get constructive feedback rather than asshats, eh? Keep the photos coming Josh, I'll continue to like to see them!

feedback and suggestions are appreciated :)

I see a lot of food photography come my way because I use them in the supermarket videos I create. Your framing is great! I would suggest making all the colors vibrant and crisp. So much so you want to reach in the picture to grab it and eat it up. ;)

Awesome shots Funky!

So I have an opportunity to attend as a guest/photog at a fashion show in a hotel. Any pointers from the the experts here? My camera equipment is limited for these type of events, that I know. Here's what I have and any thoughts what I should use? This is simply for my own experience.

Canon T1i
Canon Speedlite 270EX w/diffuser
Canon 18-55mm
Canon 70-300mm (obviously do not need)
Canon 50mm 1.8
Sigma 10-20mm
