Any photographers in here?

I don't think that canon's teleconverters work with my 55-250... I think they say only to use them with L lenses... do you have any experience with that?

No sorry not yet. I'm going to see if i can rent one to take to NYC with me. Stay tuned for more NYC pics haha. I'm leaving on Monday.

Probably packing some heat.

I'm loving the 17-50 f/2.8 by Tamron. Flyin, if you're looking for a fast wide angle, get that one. it's cheap and makes amazing photos.

That lens isn't AF-s is it?

Its hard finding an affordable lens thats sharp for my D40 :(

Yeah... photography is expensive. Wait until you get into the $1,000-3,000 price ranger PER lens. Nevermind those crazy (yeah, I'm jealous) folks that spend $7,000+ per.

what is AF-S? it should fit your nikon.

The D40 needs an Auto Focus lens because the body does not have it, so if your buy a manual focus lens, you have to manually focus everything.

:(

Looks like my best option is this lens ...
Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8

What would you reccomend as an upgrade from a D40... I have a D40x myself. Just wonderin...

Personally, ive been hearing nothing but rants and raves about the D90, especially for the price.

Thats what i was looking at, but im no where near the photography limit of the d40, so it wouldn't make sense for me to upgrade just yet. Especially since i only have 2 lens, and no external flash or anything fancy.

I got news for ya... you're never going to be at the limit of your camera. If you wait for that to happen, you'll never get a better one. The real question is, "Do I want a newer camera with better technology, or do I want to keep this one?"

I completely agree with your recommendation. Above that I recommend the D700.

Jersey, I highly recommend the 35mm f1.8 with the d40. It is very sharp especially for the price. Plus anywhere you look, the reviews for it are great.

As long as you are willing to zoom with your feet, it will produce much sharper photos then your 18-55 at all f-stops. Plus its great for low light shooting.

Yeah, I'm the same way here. D40x with the 18-55 and a 55-200.

Anyone want to give a few various lense suggestions that would work on a D40x? I kind of want to get a little more into this whole photography thing. :D
