Any photographers in here?

I just bought a 70-300 ($179) zoom lens for my camera... the 18-200 was just a little steep for me right now...
for comparison, does anybody have how much magnification 300mm has?

Yes, Mod day... wheels, springs, HID's, Paint headlights, paint Calipers... that's probably too much, but I always do that...

Don't forget the sensor crop. Your len is 70-300 on a 35mm camera. On digital it is 105-400! DOn't forget to buy a tripod.

As far as zoom is conserned, I believe it is calculated as relative to itself on most lenses. So your 70-300 is a 4.3X zoom (300/70). But compared to the standard 50mm focus length, accounting for the sensor crop, your lens is a 12X zoom (400/33). That's like having a set binoculars on the front of your camera!

OK so we are taking the dive and moving up from our Coolpix 5700 (fs btw) ... couple questions.

Besides reading through this entire thread since i know alot of good info is given here. Are there any websites that can help with the learning curve. Before it was just turn it on, set it to auto, and shoot.

Bigger questions ... the camera will be a Canon, that much I know ... BUT ...

XT or the new XTi ?

Has anyone had experience yet with an XTi? Its sold out all over and I will have to wait a week to get it (if not longer) or should I just save the $100 and get the XT?

Near Marriottsville and Henryton Road?

The tunnel I shot is in Patapsco too, so that's why it looks similar.

What did you do to get this kind of pic? Did you use a program? or did you program your camera to do it?

nice pics BradC, what camera/lens are you using?
Thanks!

All are with a D200. Kitty, the corks and the flowers are with the 18-200 kit lens. The circuit board pictures are with a 105mm lens.

First time playing with a D-SLR, still learning A LOT!!
