Any photographers in here?

Hey guys, I have a problem that I can't figure out. I'm shooting with a new Rebel xsi and I need to shoot a pic that I can print @ 36x24. I'm shooting in raw+jpeg, my RAW pics are only 11.9x17.8 but my jpegs are shooting @ 39.6x59.3 but only at 72ppi so I can't print that.

Why are my large format pics saving so small?

The resolution is probably the same for both pics. If you use a nice converter for the raw file it might looks slightly better.

The resolution is different. The Raw file is 240 & jpeg is only 72. I'm taking the pic straight from the camera/bridge to photoshop.

Yeah, the lower resolution will allow for larger physical photos. Think of it like this: you're cramming all those pixels in the jpg format into the smaller space of the RAW photo, thus giving you a higher resolution. My only suggestion would be to leave the resolution as high as possible and then take the resolution hit when you print it. If you lower the resolution to 180 you might find a happy medium...

enourmous pictures.

im using picasa3 and photomatix for HDR.
when i do HDR i end up with 10-25Mbites pictures ...!
when just editting pictures in picasa , im getting anywhere from 2-4Mbites..
how can i lower the quality or compress my photos so i can send them easier or post them on here
and how can i post the pictures directly on the thread insted of a small picture that send to a link ?
thx in advance guys.

Yes..the more you do to a photo, the bigger in size they get. The only thing I can suggest is resizing them again after you are done editing the whole photo.

Opinions...

messing around with some pics i took yesterday what you think of this style over the original? i like how it turned out and will prob do the rest of the shots this way.....

save as a jpg
open in mspaint
save as a jpg

you'll lose a tiny bit of quality, but the file will be like 40k

That's the easiest way.
