Any other Firearm owners/enthusiasts here?

Really? Whew... Here in Mississippi all I all you need are fingerprints, a picture, $124, and a bad attitude. :)

(I did have to wait 4 months for mine, but then again, I had to wait 6 months for my FFL.)

Yeah there are a bunch of anti-gun liberals here. The latest law passed says that a dealer can't sell a gun manufactured after 2003 unless it has an internal locking mechanism. That pretty much eliminates 95% of all choices available. That's why I have to stock up. You can't even transfer in a handgun from another state that was manufactured in 2003.

I have a C&R FFL, but not a regular one....it took a few months to get that, but they are nice to have.

Thanks KYred couldn't remember if it did or not. They only had up to the 44 at the range I was referring to. Which the 44 is still a cannon

No doubt... If I wanted that caliber, I would probably just carry a carbine of some sort. I'd rather have a sore shoulder than a sprained wrist... lol

I think Magnum Research only carries .357mag, .44mag, and .50A&E in the Desert Eagle line now... They have another line of pistols called the "Baby Eagle" or something like that, that has the 9mm, .40, and .45 calibers... Hell, if I remember right, they also sell some bolt action single shot pistols for silhouette shooting... they used to come in all sorts of rifle calibers... Scary stuff... lol

Holy s***! When I transfer ownership now since I have the FFL, I have to fill out the ATF forms, but before the FFL, I didn't have to fill out any paperwork around here... According to the highway patrol office, you don't have to do anything regarding a firearm transfer from citizen to citizen.

Internal locking mechanism, as in the Taurus Hammer lock safety or something?? That is crazy s***... I have a pile, literally, of those damn masterlocks that come with alot of the newer guns now... Too bad I can't think of anything to use them for.

That is damn crazy about the guns manufactured in 2003... Sheesh.

Looks like i'm living in the wrong state :)

Yes, the internal locking mechanism is the one you are referring to on the Taurus. Smith and Wesson also has a few....they use a screw that goes into the trigger guard and you need a "special" key to remove it. More stupid crap if you ask me. I've got a pile of those external locks too...they are useless.

Yeah i'm pissed, because I know for sure CZ is not going to put the locks on their handguns. Anything decent will have to be bought used.

Also have shot a few full autos. Mac 10, Isreali Uzi, M-16, and a wild full auto pistol(don't remember the name but it looked like a baretta with a handle on the front. Anyone ever seen one of these???

I've been trying to figure out which pistol you are talking about, I can see it in my head, but can't remember the name... This isn't it is it? http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=8299481

That thing sure as hell doesn't look like a beretta though, so I must be off a little.. lol Hell, that isn't the one I am thinking of though... Hmmmm. Oh well... Talking about full autos...

My dad has a Class III license with a collectors provision, so he owns a few full autos from WWII. My grandfather was in the war too. :) He was a combat engineer in Italy though, and actually ran a steam shovel. Weird huh? Anyway, back then they could ship enemy weapons home as long as they didn't ship ammo with them... He shipped a total of 57 firearms, Russian, German, Italian, British and American home while he was over there... When he died my dad inherited them all... I am trying to remember the ones that have select fire... Let's see: Browning B.A.R., M2 Carbine, SMG3 (Grease Gun), Thompson .45 submachine gun, Italian M38, and a really weird
looking British Carbine (I can't remember what that thing is called.) Anyways, you ought to see the fireproof safe my parents have at their house for all that s***, its crazy... lol.

At any rate, the .30-06 you are talking about was probably the semi-auto M1 Garand Rifle... It's a big heavily built rifle, and an awesome weapon.

Yeah, before too long, to carry a handgun we'll have to carry the slide or cylinder in one pocket, and the frame in the other... LOL

On my little smith .22A, the first thing I did was rip off the metal piece that allowed the gun to fire only when there was a magazine in the gun... That really pisses me off too... Oh well, I guess manufacturers don't want their combat hanguns to be too "dangerous"... *Bleh*

here is a of my baby. this thing is for protection only, not serious taget shooting or hunting going on. can't afford the rounds.

That's a sweet weapon. I'll have to post a few pics of mine. Is ammo expensive where you live? At my local Walmart I can get 100 rounds of 9mm Winchester for 10.99

Also www.natchezss.com sells CCI Blazer 9mm ammo for under 5 bucks a box for 50 rounds. But I hear you...shooting is pretty expensive, especially the big calibers.

One of my friends has one of these along with a .357 barrel for it. I've only shot it with the .40 cal barrel, but it's a damn accurate handgun...the groupings are nice and tight. It also has an ambidexterous mag release...but I think all of the hk's have that. I'm sure some other people could chime in on this one with some opinions.

As for myself, my .40 cal gun is a CZ-40. It was a great price and is very accurate and reliable....I've put a few thousand rounds through it without any issues.

H&k make a great pistol. I currently own a USP Compact .45 that I shoot IDPA with sometimes... An awesome gun. I've owned a Full size USP .40 with the interchangeable 9mm barrel, it too was a really reliable, quality pistol.

The only cons I would have with the USP Compact are it's price (like every other handgun nowdays) and it only comes with 1 magazine, or at least they used to.

If you are interested in the H&K, check out the following in addition to what Dan recommended, they should be about the same size and $:
Glock Model 23 -- .40
Sig Sauer P220 Pro -- .40
Beretta Centurion 96 -- .40

All you need in KY for a concealed carry permit is be 21, a backround check (no violent, alchahol related charges), a clear psychiatric record, take a training course, and hit a targewt with your handgun 8 out of 20 shots (that's pitiful)

Sounds as easy as a driving test...lol. Most people could hit a target 8 times without even aiming.

Gosh, at least you guys have a shooting test... We had nothing of the sort... I sure as hell wish we had though, it sounds like it'd be fun... I used to look forward to my qualifying with the M9 in the Army... Free practice. :)

Our qualifications are really pathetic.
1. 21 years old
2. Background Check
3. FBI Fingerprinting
4. 4 month waiting period
5. $124

Thats it... That's pretty scary when it comes down to it.

Two more of my favorites....My SIG P225 9mm and CZ97B .45
