I am currently running
2 memphis power reference pr124d
and a the speakers are wireed to run @ 1 ohm or so im told
and the amp im running is a memphis 1000d which puts out around 1100watts @ 1 ohm
is there any way to tell about how mnay db this will be im currenty looking for a new system and I going over some numbers with a few companies

Thanks in advance

Completely depends on the box... how big is it, ported or sealed, tuned to what frequency, etc. Also depends on how hot it is outside, whether you have dynamat and how much, where the box is aimed in the car. It's virtually impossible to tell without measuring it.

I'll tell you how many db's yoru hitting if u can tell me what color shirt i'm wearing......

instalation is everything, a shoddy install will result in low db's way to many variables without even being able to hear it, and even hearing it in person i could only give you a ball park range.

is there a way to get it measured before i go to a show i'd like to stnad some kinda chance ( which I think i'd do ok) is there a meter i can buy or someplace that does this so i can get a bp range

anything relatively accurate will run you around 1000$ or more. some auido shops that have a db meter will let u test for a fee.

i'd suggest just going to a show and seeing what you do. no ones going to laugh at you because you don't come in first.

Go to a show and lose miserably. Go to the next show and you'll know what you're doing.

Dude, honestly...trying to guess how loud your stereo is with only listing the equipment is like trying to guess what they put in your food at KFC. Just go to a shop, most shops have a meter and wont charge you but like $10, at that.

i went to a shop this afternoon and hit a 151 is this ok or should i goto shows and see what happens the guy @ the shop said that this i a very respectable is he right?
any way let me know guy i wanna see if i should start to compete or not

For 1000 watts on 2 12's that good enough to win if not place in the top 3 in most of the SLAP DB competition I have seen.

That's not bad at all, but I'm willing to bet that with the same subs and amp if you worked on your box a bit more or dynamatted everything or other stuff of that sort you could do better.

can anyone recommend some box ideas and what not im even looking to upgrade the speakers and amp I'd like to hit in the high 150's low 160's is this possible with 2-12's

thanks very much there is a show on Saturday at the local shop i'll see what i do
Thanks again guys

Considering the time left, I would spend it finding what frequency will burp the best in the car and be sure to use that during the competition.

151 would be great, if it was on a term lab USB meter. what did they place in your front windshield, a long skinny microphone, or a black box?

if it was a mic based system, it's a decent score. nothing that's going to win major events, though. also keep in mind that there can be over 8 dB difference between different measuring systems of today. the term lab USB is the hardest, the audio control pressure sensor is right behind it (about 1 dB more), then the old term lab mic based system (on average about 5 dB's more than the USB), and the audio control mic based system (on average 7 dB's more than the USB).

go back to the shop that you tested your system on, and use sine waves to find your peak frequency.

i'd almost bet he'd be about 5-8 dbs less at a term lab mic'd event. but really not to bad a number starting off.
