Another AP question

Have a quick question for the guys out there with AP's. As I'm looking at cobb's website, trying to match up what map I'm going to use when I get my AP next month, I notice that Cobb gives you a projected hp and torque increase. For example. For a stage 2 with SRI they project a 16% increase in HP. My question is, is that 16% increase ONLY with the AP? or is it factoring in the downpipe and SRI as well? I'm still going to get the AP regardless, but would just like to know what kind of power I can expect.

My advice...don't listen to that. The AP will increase power over the stock tune, but you won't have any sort of actual estimate unless you go to a dyno.

If I took all of the power addition estimates for various products, I'd have 400whp right now. They don't mean anything. Just know that you will have more power than you do now....how much is a giant question mark until you take it to a dyno

Just kiddin. I don't see a DP in your list. Dyno's are all different and can be made to read high or low. You won't be disappointed. You can log with it and your powa band will extent past the stock cliff of 5500 rpm. I always hated how the nose would drop like a scawlded dog when you hit 5500. You can get a used AP for $500 and there is one on M3F now for that price. I would never go back unless I was selling the car.

I will be buying the corksport dp around the same time as the AP, sometime after the holidays when I'll have the cash. I'm hoping a used one will be on sale at that time, but we'll see.

I remember reading somewhere that the %hp increase Cobb gives includes the mods themself. For instance, my the map I'm running is supposed to give about a 7% increase in hp, and 10% tq if I remember correctly. That would equal about a 20hp increase, and 30tq increase over stock w/ the AP and a intake. My car definately feels like it has that.

If Cobb says 16% over stock w/ intake and downpipe, that would mean about 305 hp, or a 40hp increase which sounds right for those 3 mods.

On a side note, Cobb says you should have turbo back exhaust to run stage 2. I hear you can do it w/ just a downpipe, but what, if any, would be the consequences of doing so?

Thanks! I know installing the AP will be a breeze, but I'm still wondering if I'm a moron cause I plan on trying the DP install myself, we'll see.....

how were the sensors? and any tips getting to those hard to reach bolts?

Sensors were fine. I didn't have any trouble. I did buy a special O2 sensor socket, though...but it was like $5 from a local car parts store. I heard a lot of people had trouble with them, but I did not. Tips for getting to the hard bolts? Bandaids the next day...other than that, extensions. Just take your time. The heat shields are a b****.
