Animal Cruelty

I fully support animal rescues and related organizations, have made donations in the past, and plan to make more in the future. My sister and her husband rescued a chocolate Lab this last spring. I also plan on eventually adopting a rescue dog.

But TreFlip999, I have to say this. You mentioned you support PETA. I simply can't do so, they get to be absolutely ridiculous sometimes....psychotic even.

They Do sometimes get carried away, I will agree...I more support the undercover work and everything they did to shine light on IAM's and horrific testing they were doing...But yeah, PETA is hardcore but they mean well...I am not a vegan, i dont think i could ever be, I need meat, im a man!

for me:

Support PETA < Stick hot poker in eye

Their positions against Ranchers and Hunting make us incompatible.

I'm a big supporter of PETP.

Their motto:
"Plants have feelings too"

Though at this I have two pure bred dogs that I paid for.... I had worked for an Animal Shelter for 10 years and in that time had resued many dogs and ended up bringing 7 dogs home to stay and fostering many more. Let me tell you how crazy it was to have seven 'in door' dogs. Most about 40 lbs or bigger.

I agree about PETA and have a hard time supporting them because how extreme they can be, but the basics on the spray/nueter clinincs and general operations on Pet welfare are very good. I support all no kill shelters... when I see a donation box I drop some money in. I can't work in one anymore or I would have wall to wall pets and would be that crazy lady on the news, LOL. I have to stop and help any stray dog I find.

One of the programs I have been working on is Therapy Dogs. My oldest Pyrenees, Hera, is a prime candidate. I just need to get her certified now. I have a hospital right accross the street that has a program I would like her to be in. Just a lot of work and I have very high expectations of her. She is extremely smart and very sweet.

I personally saved a cat that was sure to die if I didn't find it (my story here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123668099).

After taking in this cat back in March, I come to love animals and have taken in two more cats from a local vet shop here who finds homes for strays and couldn't be happier to offer these animals a loving home, also I donated a few bucks a month to the humane society.

My rescue dog, now named Polaris.

When we got him he was grossly overweight and unable to walk the length of the parking lot without resting. After observing other behaviors, such as his reaction to car rides, we concluded that he had been abandoned. We got him when he was 4 (the vet thinks), and we've had him 3 years now. I wouldn't have it any other way. When we get a bigger yard, I will adopt another doggie to be his friend.

I love his eyes.

My wife and I got our Jack-a-Bee (Jack Russell, Beagle mix) oliver from the humane society when we was 2 months old. Such a sweet dog and super intelligent. Him and I don't see eye to eye sometimes, but we can't imagine our lives without him.

Oliver is such a cutie. :) We have a Bagle (beagle-bassett mix), Rocky. They (beagles, bassets, jack russels) can be so hard headed sometimes, but they're such good hearted loving pups. :D

That is awesome...I love hearing stuff like that

This thread reminded that I wanted to call the shelter I dealt with months ago to check and see if I could visit this dog again. I can't escape the feeling that I'm supposed to adopt him. He captured my heart the last time I met him.

Interesting timing...he finally got adopted today. I hope he's going to a loving home...he sure deserves one.
