Animal Cruelty

This thread reminded that I wanted to call the shelter I dealt with months ago to check and see if I could visit this dog again. I can't escape the feeling that I'm supposed to adopt him. He captured my heart the last time I met him.

Interesting timing...he finally got adopted today. I hope he's going to a loving home...he sure deserves one.

That's our Kenji-pup. He wasn't truly a rescue - we paid for him, but when we went to pick him up, he was filthy and sick. The lady who had him was very non-chalant and tried to say he was just nervous from the car ride. I knew if we didn't take him, he probably wouldn't have lived. Took him to the vet and he had kennel cough so bad that his entire left lung was filled with fluid. We were very worried about him. We reported the woman who sold him to us to the FL Dept. of Agriculture and they made her pay for his vet bills. 3.5 years later and Kenji's as healthy as a horse. :D

My cat and one of my 3 dogs were rescued.

My dog Rosie & my kitty Samwise were adopted, Samwise is feline leukemia positive and is on immune boosters to keep him healthy. I got him when he was about 8 weeks old and now he is 5. He would have been put to sleep because of the leukemia if we didn't take him in. Shelters basicly concider a cat with feline leukemia to be unadoptable. We only want one cat and we keep him indoors so he was a good fit for us.

Rosie was about 3 when we adopted her, she was very overweight and had recently had a litter. She has epilepsy and has to take daily medication to prevent seizures. She is a great dog and gets along great with our other dog, Stitch. When we first got her I was pretty sick for a couple days and she slept next to the sofa and wouldn't let anyone come bother me unless I told her it was ok. Now she follows my husband everywhere, she is definately a daddy's girl.

the meds are easy. Every morning when i pour my cup of tea and they know it's time, they all line up and wait for thier 'treats'. It costs about $50/month and they are definately worth it.

hehe that is awesome

Interesting thread. Especially how people are in the same situations as these animals and we have no idea what to do with them. Adopt a homeless.

haven't you ever heard of a seeing eye dog? or drug sniffing dog? or police dog? dogs can work, don't let them pull that crap on you

my Dad trained his dog to bring him beer out of the fridge, Dakota earns his kibble.

Crap! You mean I could have trained my dog to get me beer and I didn't have to get married so my husband could do that?
