Amp Won't Turn Off?

This weekend I finally got around to installing my components in the front doors of my Speed6. At the same time, I installed an amp and an eq. I used the wiring diagrams on this site (stickies) to help with the splicing of wires. Here is my issue. Everything works great, however, the amp and eq both turn on when I turn the key on and DO NOT go off when I turn the radio off. Is anyone else experiencing this? I tapped into the blue/black wire as indicated in the diagram as "remote", which I assumed would be the remote turn on. Did I use the wrong wire? If so, which one should I have used? Thanks for any help...

USUALLY (when i say that, it doesnt mean its true)

Blue is usually remote
and black is usually ground.

But dont take my word for it. So if you wired it to blue it should be right for remote.....but what did you use the black for?

Usually the remote is a solid blue - and its usually a lighter shade then most of the other blues....I dunno once again though - never wired through a mazda. just hondas

+1 Solid blue is in most cases the remote wire...

im guessing you wired it to a constant since its always staying on for you.....get a tester and test the wires with key turned, and key not turned, the one you want it the one that lights up when the key is turned...

I was using this diagram... which indicates that the remote is blue/black or blue with black.

Unless I missed something, it looks right, right?

Oh, and I have the BOSE system, so I was using the 3rd diagram, for the amp. Everything else was correct, in terms of the speaker wires and power/ground.

oh, and how professional were you about fixing the wires up right?.....(tapeing them up with caps ect.)

I didn't use heatshrink but I did tape and solder each connection.

i also notice you said you have a speed6 and that diagram is for a mazda6....I dont know if there is a difference in the head-units, but you might wanna check that out too.

My conclucsion is; the only way it can really stay on, is being connected to a constant. and that just wont do - my suggestion you ask? Bring it to a professional.....all the hard work and sweat and anger is just not worth it. just fork the 50 bucks max to some audio store

Thanks for the help guys, I will take a voltmeter to the car when I get home and track it down. I thought perhaps I had read the chart wrong or something! Bah.. stupid electronics
