Alternator upgrade for the 3?

I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 60 amp powering a 6" RF Punch sub in a custom enclosure to help out the bass on the stock audio system. It was professionally installed by the previous owner. I'm having headlight dimming problems at higher volumes that I believe would be solved with a more powerful alternator.

My understanding is that the stock Mazda 3 alternator (which I currently have) puts out 90 amps. Are there any drop-in high-performance alternators that don't require any modification and won't do any damage to the electrical system? Say in the 110-130 amp range?

Has anyone done this upgrade? If so, what brand/model alternator?
If nobody knows, then could someone point me in the right direction in finding an answer?

Thanks for your help.

Search for the "big three" upgrade. That should solve your problems, and cost next to nothing (in comparison to a new alternator).

LMAO...

That tiny amp and tiny sub are NOT going to dim your system.

Now twenty of them might do it, but not what you've got there. BTW, very clean, simple install, kudos on that.

That looks to be an 8" sub though, not a 6".

You probably want to double check your ground, and make very sure that you are using a stable, solid point. From where have your equipment mounted, I'd say a ground down seatback anchor point would be worth considering. All the metal near the spot will have to be scuffed down to bare metal, then install a ring under there. With that small of a sub, I think you could easily go with 8 gauge wire.

I want to point out that if you are up for it, you could probably install that gear under the factory floor panel. There is enough room to make it completely stealth and use zero trunk space. I was about 90% done with a box that did just that with a 10" sub, but in the end I scrapped it because at the time, no 10" sub I could find that sounded good was shallow enough. That 8" RF sub you've got there is very shallow, and would do it.

I have 12"MTX 9500 with Kicker KX600.1. my car run great with sub hitting hard but when AC is on my car shuts off and on. But I dont have a cap yet.

And if you haven't yet, I would suggest upgrading the big 3 1st before worrying about getting a CAP.

whats wrong with a cap i never used one yet, but i do know some people who have. But none of them have mazda3 and what do u mean Big 3

Caps are a lazy way of seperating consumers from their money. If the retailers were truly concerned about helping your issues properly, they would be offering to do the big 3 instead of selling you a highly profitable cap that doesn't really help the root of the cause.
