Alternator Failure

The battery light lit up on the dash and during idle I could see that I was loosing power. I had it towed to the dealer and they are ordering a new alternator.

Just wanted to reach out and see if any others had issues with this. I haven't owned many cars but it seems odd for this item to fail after 15k miles.

I've owned a boat load of cars but have never seen an alt fail at 15K, maybe 80-100K. get the fault codes and let us know.

The three alternators that I've had to replace in any of the vehicles Ive owned all happened at 100K plus.

For four years I have been around this forum, your alternator failure is probably the 1st I remember on CX9.

Fluke part....it does happen....an old buddy of mine had a chevy hd and the allison trans died at 55k?????

Sorry for the delay but it's been crazy. I'm not sure exactly what caused the problem but it's being replaced under warranty. This is the least of my worries. Before they started the work for the alternator they put the car on a lift and told me I hit something. My underpanel is gone and my oil pan is damaged. WTF!?! I'm pretty certain I didn't hit anything. The car was towed Sun morning but was kept with the tow company because the dealer was not open. It was brought to the dealer on Mon. The tow company must have damaged it some how. Long story short. We're going through insurance to fix the issue and they will go after the tow company for reimbursement.
