Airflow Logistics AFC dyno results

Exactly. The units aren't going to be sent out with an aggressive tune. If you want to tweak it exactly for your car, then you'll need an accurate A/F reading.

FYI- Dyno tuning may make the most power, but a solid road tune is better for drivability. That point is moot if you use a load bearing dyno though :)

Azainr, his attempt was via the use of an o2 modifier, not an air/fuel controller. From what I was told by Split Second he used the modifier to atttempt to trick the ecu into thinking it was running richer than it really was, much like the clamps floating around. We took the approach of building and actual air/fuel controller that would interpret and modify the actual maf, etc signals to the ecu...ok now on tuning questions. The unit will come preset with a map for one of the indicated test levels. This map will work fine right out of the box and for most users will never need to be modified. Thats whats great about this unit, its preset for the basic users, but via the R4 software allows tuners to custom tune it to their exact setup. Whether it be upgrade injectors, a fmic or smic, upped boost, exhaust, the unit can handle it all. As far as advanced tuning I would recommend you do this on a dyno to obtain the best results, though the use of a wide band and datalogging would also work well. As we get more and more tuning time, and hopefully a diverse group of locals, we'll be able to offer more maps, like i said earlier we plan to release another 3-5 maps by xmas that will include mods such as turbo back exhausts, FMIC, ported intake manifolds, and other such mods. THe best thing is, you dont have to sent it back to us! We send you the info you plug it into your laptop, hehe or home comp if you have a reallly really long cable, and make the changes. For those of you wanting to run over 12psi....though I will help you with settings and tuning, based on my 5+ years experience with the FS series engines and tuning I would not recommend it if you'd like this motor to stay intact for a significant length of time. This unit is designed to enhance performance, not bullet proof your engine. N/A guys YES this unit will work for you also. whether you plan on staying n/a or adding a turbo setup this unit will allow you the fuel control you need. Whew ok now for the good news, we will be offering a one time only GB price of $285 + s/h that will apply ONLY to the first 10 people and will ONLY be effective if we do indeed have 10 people to fill the order, which doesnt appear to be a problem. Regular price will be set at $325 unless I somehow manage to obtain the xmas spirit and offer a second GB. PLEASE DO NOT PM OR EMAIL ME THAT YOU WANT ON THE LIST. I will start a GB post in the MSP vendor section here in a few days and yes I will put a post on here to let you know when the thread is up.

I'm glad to be one of the "diverse group of locals" john!;)

you already have what like 30000 people subscribed to this thread. can you do $300 for 20 people instead if I don't get on that list !?

*drool*

Now, do I keep saving up for the BEGI and get this later, or do I just go for it and get DSM's toy? Dilemmas!

Crap, I'm not going to be in town this weekend. I hope I'm around when the GB starts because I want to get in on the first batch for sure!

A few questions- I'm sure some of them have been answered. Don't hate.

-Can you switch between an A and B map or does it work like the S-AFC where it only can hold and run one tune?

What this guy said, answers please :D

I will take my car to the dyno for a before and then an after result on this one. The dyno shop could help tune if need be but I doubt I'll need it. How soon until the Damn GB gets going. More importantly, how soon till I can get on in my hot hands????

i have a question. One the Stock ECU people run anwhere from 5-12+psi. If you had say a 10 psi map loaded and you spiked to around 12 or so would you be ok, or would it be hurting the motor?

with a unit like this and a preset map at say 10 psi, i don't think it has the ability to spike....although i am not sure of this i'm still a newbie

Can anyone else confirm an answer?
Spikes at 10psi+ are going to happen. The wastegate can't keep up, and the only way to solve it is to slow the onset of boost, which is a horrible option.

I was just wondering cause many peoples boost levels (especially my own) vary greatly from day to day, being in canada the land of the cold, my "stock boost has raised quite a bit from the temp. drop, I am almost hitting 9.5-10psi spike-8.5-9 @ redline (and my tires will start breaking loose from wot in 2nd, something they never did in the summer running 10psi to redline-prized coldness + supporting mods ) (drive) Hopefully with the BEGI kit I will hit 10psi @ stock boost and use the 10psi map, then have another 12psi map for the track. I think Im gonna put snow all over the FMIC and do a few pulls when she gets here hehhehehe

i just spent the past few minutes searching through this thread and the previous one, and didn't find the answer to a question i had ...

Q: was the final verdict to include an ebc?

i know the fcd would be incorporated, but the last i read said that the idea of an included ebc was being 'toyed with' ...

From what I was told there will not be an Ebc with this unit....

where'd ya hear this bit of info?

and if you're right, are there any suggestions as to which controller will perform best with this module? also, could an mbc be substituted?

Same here...I will be out of town this weekend, with no computer access, and I want(NEED) this!! I don't want to pay $325 just because I had prior obligations:( Please consider the $285 mark for all who want in on the first batch.

Any way we can get a pic or a link to see what this unit even looks like?

From John (DSMConvert) last night.

As far as what MBC you should use I really have no clue.
