Air Conditioner problem

Hey,

My Mazdaspeed is an 07 so it's time for things like this to happen. When I'm driving around town (40-50mph) my a/c blows cold air just fine. When I get on the interstate (60-80mph), the a/c starts blowing warm air. I don't know if it's a compressor issue or if I just need to add freon but at any rate, I need it fixed. This southern heat is awful!

If you've never changed your cabin air filter it may be time. A clogged filter will cause slow air flow and the evaporator coil will freeze over.

Hey,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to this thread. The past few days have been busy.

I found out that when I get onto the interstate and I punch it, the a/c just blows warm air. But, if I ease into it, I can get up to 80mph and the air still blows cold.

I've never changed the cabin air filter, but it's on the list of things to do with my next paycheck.

My car does the same thing, I had always thought it was just disengaging the A/C compressor clutch during harder accels.

Mine's never done it before. It just recently started doing this.

I have the exact same problem that just started with-in the past couple months. I have a 2008 MS3 with 100k that will not re-engage the compressor after a hard acceleration. I have to actually pull over and turn the car off for a few minutes before the a/c comes back on. I changed the cabin filters (disgusting) to no avail.

it is normal. A/c compressor shuts off beyond a certain accelerator pedal position.

This is a different issue, which may or may not be op's issue

Definitely need to change your cabin filter if you've never done it. You would not believe how dirty that thing can get after a while.
